Yesterday morning I went out gathering Cactus fruit which grow on the Cactus, they are called Tunas. These tunas make great jelly, sauces, syrup. We will be making Prickly Pear Sauce this evening.

The Monday photo challenge was to photograph text of some type. My travels took me to Luling Texas recently. Texas watermelon with both text & texture up in the sky seemed like a immediate draw for my eye.

A sticky situation came about on my last visit to San Antonio. While we were having an estate sale Nana's home I was speaking to a neighbor. I mentioned how I had wondered if I could have a cutting or a piece of a plant they had. No sooner than I had asked the gentleman than he said he would love to give me a piece. My jaw dropped minutes later when I saw him with a hack saw chopping his large cactus almost to the ground! I walked over and asked if it was necessary to destroy his beautiful cactus plant? He said his wife had been wanting to give the cactus away or trim it back. My daughter & I dragged the huge cactus stalks across the yard in a 3X3 foot box. We later brought the cactus pieces home & had not 1 but 3 new plants. I keep wondering if the original cactus will ever recover from the "Gift" we received that day?
