When you wish apon a star ✪ posted a photo:

Thankyou flickr for everything

Dear flickr, the past year that I have spent on here has been absolutely wonderful. I have come so much further in photography than I ever would have alone. I have met some amazing people who have taught and inspired me more than I can say.

So it pains me to say that I must go for a little while. I won't have access to a camera for a while, or the internet, but I promise I shall return. I desperately need a fresh start. My family and I are in the process of moving houses, just mum, my little brothers, my sister and me.

This is my last photo that I shall post as When you wish apon a star. I am starting anew. I shall begin a new photostream where I am planning on beginning a 365 and where I shall still write the odd story. If any of you so happen to stumble across my stream than feel free to tag along.

I'd like to thank all of you for all of your support, it has helped me more than you know. But things have changed and so have I.
Before I go, I would like to thank my extremely wonderful cousin Sassie, for introducing me to flickr and for all her inspiration, support and for comfort from day one. Also thankyou to Diuli, Daniel, Davika and of course the wonderful Rich Levine. You have all given me so much.

So goodbye for now flickr, and thankyou.

CHAPTER 14: Telephone box

When you wish apon a star ✪ posted a photo:

The icy wind began to manoeuvre itself up the sleeves of my red jacket, sending shivers down my spine as each finger began to grow stiff; one by one.

Sinking to the hard, concrete floor beneath me with a ‘thump’, I clutched the pay phone up to my ear and prayed for an answer.

The irritating dial tone continued without an answer. Releasing my neck back in exasperation without a second thought to the hard metal board behind me: a bang sent the second lot of painful shivers down my spine.‘I may have to find some place else to sleep tonight …’

As night drew near, I lugged my stack of books down the path and eventually spotted a MOTEL.

Please, a warm bed is all I ask for tonight.
CHAPTER 13: Parking lot

When you wish apon a star ✪ posted a photo:

As I sat in a ball and contemplated the empty parking lot that was my surrounds, the gentle breeze of loneliness washed over me like soft, peaceful waves.

Not bad loneliness, just loneliness.

Perhaps even good loneliness; well that surely must be a first.

The days were slowly becoming shorter.

Whatever happened to the weeks that would come and go so slowly?

:The days when care was affordable for time was plenty.

But the summer had passed as quickly as it came and soon enough, frost had begun to form on the grass each morning.

My train of thought has gradually made less sense.
Now I simply ramble.

And what is wrong with rambling? For I am doing it now.

Please excuse me.

Don't it always seem to go,
That you don't know what you've got
Til its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot.

Oh I enjoyed taking photos here. The parking lot was so bare. I cannot say I'm as pleased with the editing as I'd hoped, however this is but one of the few photo's that I'll upload from today, so I hope you like one of them.

I'm feeling much better now and have finally recovered from that dreadful tummy bug :(
I would just like to thank everybody for all of their support. I'm sure it helped me get better much quicker :)

Oh and I would also like to thank the couple leaving Ison & Co this afternoon who waited until I took this before they drove off. Your car made the perfect prop :)

Anyway- (This is not my week 13 photo- I shall upload that with the story later on.) Happy Easter everybody!
Parking lot

CHAPTER ELEVEN: Exploring

The sun belted down upon her red scalp as the day progressed into afternoon.

Tangles of green mess intertwined with her hair and flakes of tanned skin began to fall from her back where traumatized cells had given up the fight.

She continued on her trek through the jungle; with each step brought a new discovery.

Beneath the roots of an ancient willow tree lay a bed of beautiful magenta flowers.

The roar of falling water could be heard just around the bend of the jungle.

The most wonderful of her discoveries almost skipped the eye.

Hiding behind a shrub of some sort was a one eyed creature with baby duck fluff clinging to it's soft skin. It made queer sounds as she approached it’s retreat.

He seemed only a young little fellow.

A closer analysis of the creature revealed a pronged tail, still covered in the same fine, fluff that coated the rest of his body.

As the afternoon progressed into dusk, she decided to leave the little fellow.

But fate destined that they would meet again each afternoon and play by the waterfall until dusk.
This cycle would repeat itself until the day came that the girl would no longer be able to lift herself from her bed.

And then the not-so little creature would waddle to her side and stay there until dusk progressed into night and the last breath left her body.

Fate had sealed a life-long friend.
Week 11/52

Oh I had fun yesterday. We went up to Sydney and Paddy's Markets, where I bought my newest addition to my scarf collection :)
We sat at Darling Harbour and ate rice cakes and healthy slice. Then we walked around and I took lots of photos :)
Going through them all lastnight while watching Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz, I couldn't decide which one to upload :( So I'm seriously contemplating uploading some of them seperate from my 52 weeks.
Anyway, hope you all enjoy a lovely weekend!! Just about to check out all of your streams!!!

Posters weigh apon a young girl heavily, smothering her with images of flawless bodies and happy faces like a tsunami of some-what perfection.

Why is it so that our society has developed such an obsession with face value?

We have grown stereotypes by the hundred.

Pale = sick
Blonde = dumb
Female = weak

These are but few of the labels we use to divide our nation.

Well I want out.

The waters of expectation are slowly filling her lungs and the hunger in her stomach for food is growing every day.

Why is it so that someone shall deprive themselves of food to fit into a puzzle?

The jigsaw pieces of society are shifting shape, cut thinner and thinner by the hands of the media and the cruel expectations of groupings.

These stereotypes placed in our world are useless.

They = sadness, deprivation, depression and needless heartache.

May each and every one of you see the worth of each and every single being; beneath the skin.

Else you too shall find yourself trapped in the mirror.

Today I shall tell you the story of the strongest, caring and most selfless person I know: The story of my mum.

Today is her 42nd birthday and she is still just as beautiful as she always has been.

My mum is my best friend. She is one of the only people who can make me feel better. She has been my idol through rough times and she is so much stronger than she knows.

Happy birthday mum, this one’s just for you.
Week 8/52

The past week has been extremely busy. I am officially SICK of looking at my computer screen. My eyes are killing me from all this reading and I had a trigonometry test last week that I’m pretty sure I failed. The stress is starting to get to me and I fear that my photography and stories are suffering for that.
My 56 weeks project is starting to become difficult.
But I promise something better for next week.
Shall catch up on all of your brilliant streams ASAP- (Don’t know when that is yet).
Please bear with me- once I hand in this history assignment I promise things will start to look better.
Oh- before I go- I am helping out at a 'pink stumps day' this weekend. All the fundraising goes towards putting more breast care nurses in NSW.
I would very, very, very much appreciate it if anybody would pop by the website and maybe make a donation- It's for a great cause. Here's the site pinkstumpsday2013.gofundraise.com.au/page/BomaderryCricke...

CHAPTER EIGHT: My Mum

At last, the skies opened up and made way for the sunlight which had been desperate to make an appearance all day.

The odd, itchy comfort of the forest's poison ivy and what-not brushed against my skin, which would later leave their mark in irritating, red rashes.

Warmth spilled onto my cheeks as the sun made it's short appearance before bed-time. The rustle of some creature coming to suss me out and the chirping of little willy wag tails was the soothing audio that no speaker could replicate.

This sanctuary of beauty, untouched by man, was the only true definition of perfection.

I watched the sun tuck itself under the horizon and say goodnight.

The light began to fade, and the birds finished their song.

Untill we meet again, I thought.
Colour- as promised :)
Hope everybody had a lovely valentines day, whether they are single (like me) or lucky enough to share their love with somebody special.
This week has been a good week.
Everything seems to be falling into place this year. School work is already crazy and my head is pounding from all this reading- but I can say that I am trying my absolute best at everything- and so far, I'm only half buried in work ;)

Today I shall tell the story of the day that darkness ate the sun whole. The day when sadness overcame happiness and hate buried love deep beneath the ground.

An enormous, grey cloud began it’s trek over the lands, seeping the colour from every square centimetre of surface.

The once smiling faces where now replaced with the same, dull look. The wonderful blue sky that had once watched over the countryside was stripped bare of it’s colour, the light disappearing with it.

As the grey monstrosity progressed on it’s journey, it grew larger and larger, feasting on the unhappiness of it’s dishevelled victims.

Where trees had once bared delicious fruit, enormous tower’s shot up in their places.

The towers employed slaves for them. Every day, the people would put on black suits and climb the tower’s million stairs like robots. Then they would sit at glowing screens for hours; tapping away at hundreds of keys.

The cloud had grown blacker and blacker, and the people had grown more in It’s control.

Happiness was not allowed.

Laughter was out of the question.

And standing up to the black monster brought a punishment of eternal despair.

We must all bow down to the big, black demon of the skies.

It was dark. The house was moaning. Morgan had an active imagination.

These three variables did not mix well when one’s aim was to sleep.

Morgan shot upright from where he had restlessly slumbered; a cold sweat formed droplets on his forehead.

Mama had told Morgan countless times that there was nothing to be afraid of. Long gone were the days when she would run into his bedroom at the sound of his cry with warm milk and hold him until he fell back to sleep.

Morgan missed those nights. He supposed mama was too tired, but so was Morgan! Instead, she had given him a tiny pouch of Guetemalan Worry People. Mama had said they were a tribe of protectors ‘But they are tiny’, Morgan said.

‘They are very good listeners’, his mama had explained ‘Tell them your worries and the Guatemalan people shall take them all away’.

Morgan reached into the pocket of his pyjamas and pulled out a little pouch. He picked two tiny dolls from the pouch and held them very close to his face, whispering into the miniscule ears of the worry dolls.

Placing the dolls gently back into their pouch, Morgan rolled onto his side and fell into a deep, peaceful sleep.

He did not wake until morning.

Salty tears streamed down the pale complexion of a young girl, leaving sticky trails in their wake.

The girl ran out into the cold wintery air, bare footed, mud sloshing between her toes and rain hailing onto her face.

The ground slid from beneath her feet, and before the girl could grip her bearings, she was on her back side, mud leaking into her clean, white dress. Her neatly braided hair fell from its place, now tangled and unruly, her red ribbon discarded in the mud.

She could no longer ‘sit and look pretty’; as so many had told her to do.

Was this the destiny of a woman? To look prim and proper, forever the shadow and slave of a man?

Her sex had been labelled as dumb, pretty and weak. How had they sunken so low, so far as to never be worthy of a voice, and purely a pleasure for a man?

She stood out in the rain, letting it wash away any trail of weakness that had once leaked from her eyes.

‘Liliana! Get in here!’, a voice demanded.

The girl clenched her jaw and folded her arms. Lifting her chin from where it had sunken, she stomped inside defiantly.

She would not be pushed around again.

Rickety ladders descended from the skies, sweeping children off their feet and taking them far up into the clouds.

The daydreamers skipped out into the warm summer air and left their troubles behind. They gripped tightly at the ladders, and without a care in the world ascended into the clouds.

They cared not for the ache in their legs from climbing for hours, nor did they care for the air that grew colder and colder as they gained height.

They cared only for the beauty of the moment; the adventure that they had dreamed up all on their own.

Here there was no need to grow old.

There were no adults to tell them to grow up or stop laughing or be quiet.

They could be children, they could imagine,

they could dream.

And no-one told them to stop.

A little girl woke in the dead of night.

She curled herself into a ball and attempted to fall back asleep; she was not tired.

With a big ‘hummph’, she sat upright, leant over to her bedside table and stroke a match. She slid her bare white tippy toes down onto the cool floorboards and lit her oil burner, grasping it tightly with her bony white fingers.

She snuck over to her windowsill, being extra careful not to step on the creaky floorboards that would wake her mama. She flipped the latch on her window, tucked her fingertips around the knob, and slowly lifted it so she could squeeze through the gap.

The outdoors greeted the child with a blast of icy wind, as if saying ‘You should be in bed’. The child greeted it with a raspberry.

She jumped down from her window sill and ran to her big willow tree, plonking herself down on the ground. Many times her mother had found her there in the morning, head rested on the tree’s roots like a pillow. ‘Vinny!’ she would say, ‘Have you not a bed? Have you not a pillow and a warm blanket inside? What is wrong with you child?!’ Vin would roll her eyes.

Vin gazed up to the skies, the stars twinkling her a lullaby of their own.

Out of the billions of shining stars above her, one caught Vin’s eye.

It was a shooting one, coming towards her.

It landed delicately into her hand.

She made a wish.

And it came true.

The bench sat beneath a girl.

It’s footrest supported two flexed feet covered in brown, lace up boots. A long flowy dress curtained a couple of long white legs, and two splayed hands covered in turquoise rings gripped the sides of the bench’s head.

You might call this girl an inbetweener. Her hair was long and short at the same time, brown and blonde at once, and most of the time she was halfway between yes and no.

She was about to catch a train. She didn’t know where this train led, but she knew she wished it to take her somewhere that would help her in her quest of self discovery.

She tilted her head so that she could properly view the tracks that disappeared to a vanishing point. Smoke wafted towards her from the distance. A toot followed in its wake, meaning her train would soon be there for her.

A trunk sat beside her. An old fashioned one: not particularly large. In it she could fit everything she held dear to her.

Amongst the confusion that normally clouded her brain like a thick fog, she had found a sense of defiance: as if she knew precisely that the train she caught would take her to a place that she wanted to go.

The tracks began to rattle and a big black train entered the station.

She picked up her trunk and boarded her train, without one look back.

Guess what everybody!!! I'm really excited, because- well, OK- Call me a quitter but I have come to the conclusion that at this point in time- I do not have the time to complete a 365 days photo project properly- so, as of tomorrow, I shall be doing a 52 weeks project. BBBBUUUUUUTTTT- WWAAAITTT FFFOOORRR IIITT!!! I will ALSO be writing a 200 words short story with each of my images each week!!! I love telling stories- so I'm really excited!!!!
I'll be uploading one photo every week for the next year- and with that a short story. This is far easier to commit to. I shall try and do a proper 365 day project maybe a few years down the track- but for now, this commitment suits perfectly for me.
This time, I'm doing it properly :)

Happy new year everybody!! In a few hours ...
Wrote my new year resolutions today- (which are never fulfilled) BUT, this year is going to be different!!!! As for the photo- i wanted to do bokeh with the lights but it didnt work very well- I found some star bokehs though on iPiccy- pretty cool huh?!Anyways- thankyou everybody who's taken the time to view my stream this year. All you flickrites have helped me so much- all of you are bubbling with talent and it is infectious!!! I wish every single one of you the ABSOLUTE BEST in 2013- 'cos this year is our year to shine!!!

Yesterday my cousin Sassie and I caught up for christmas and decided to try a night shot. Well, this is what happened.
First, we stole some fairy lights from the shelf, which worked brilliantly, but blew before we could catch a good photo.
Then we found some terrible lights that kept on going on and off.
So we tried candles.
Neither of us are entirely satisfied with it, but alas it was fun sitting out on the balcony with our long dresses on and pretty flames flickering before our eyes. You shall see this photo on her photostream shortly.
I hope that everybody's christmas was filled with love, happiness and christmas magic.
Enjoy!

Merry Christmas everybody

Enjoy!
