I grabbed the shot of the clouds on my way back home from Richmond last week. I literally stared out the window the entire trip. The world we live in is so beautiful when we step back and observe it.

I'm currently on spring break, and I just returned from a small trip to Richmond to see my sister. The first night we were there we went to the Barnes and Noble and found Happy the Artist in a Virginia Curiosities book. I made it a goal of mine to find this man, take a photo, and hear his story.

Adventure Awaits

I'm in such a weird and exciting point in my life. There are so many roads out there to take, so many possibilities, and so much that is unknown.

A lot of the time, people become worried when their next step is an unknowing one. However, the key to not being worried is preparing yourself to take that uncertain step. As Warren Buffett tells us, "Never test the depths of the river with both of your feet.” Great advice from such an influential man. Kudos to my friend, Chase, for showing this quote to me this week.

Remember, taking the step is important though. Don't let fear or laziness hold you back from getting what you crave.

I always love when people get so excited about things they love doing. As soon as you mention that one thing that they love, their whole life seems to brighten up. They continue talking about every little detail, and you just listen, pretending like you understand every word. During these moments, we reveal that hidden nerd that is somewhere inside us all.

I think if everyone could spend their time working on things they truly love doing, the world would be a little bit better in someway.

Time flies when you're having...fun? Well, not quite. I forgot what having fun feels like, haha. Right now, I have all my public economic papers spread out in front of me in order to study for my exam tomorrow. It has been a pretty interesting class because we have studied the role of government on the economy, while in the midst of a presidential election. Also, my instructor is a grad student studying public health economics, and she isn't afraid to share her opinion on things such as "Obamacare." It's okay though because she saves herself each time by saying, "it's just my opinion."

Anyways, thanks to my good friend and roommate, Chase, for helping me out with this shot before he had to head to school and nerd out on Finance.

Take it easy, everyone!

This past week has been incredibly brutal for me. I have had several exams, editing/shooting a couple of videos, and participating in a 54 hour competition called Startup Weekend, where participants join teams, and build a business in 54 hours.

Despite the stress, and lack of sleep, it ended up being one of the best weekends I have had in a very long time. I met so many awesome people this weekend, learned so much about myself, and best of all, our team won the entire event!

I'm very fortunate to have joined an awesome team, and I can easily say having an awesome team is one of the most important things you should have during the start of a business venture. Here is an informative article about creating a management team for those interested in starting their own ventures one day.

Anyways, it was nice to sit down and edit a photograph for the first time in a week, and I appreciate all the support I get from everyone interested in my work. Again, I thank all of you.

Finding some balance between exam preparation, video shoot, and photography. Glad I have photography to escape some of the stress life throws at me.

I was having some fun compositing some of my older stuff together last night in between a hardcore (relatively speaking) study session. Its good to take a break every once in awhile to just keep your sanity. I am beyond ready for exams to be over.

Dive. Submerge yourself in what you love, and around those you love. They say you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. If you believe this to be true, or at least to some degree as true, are those you choose to be around helping you towards what you truly want in life?

Nicholas Sparks couldn't have said it any better in this quote:

“It happens to everyone as they grow up. You find out who you are and what you want, and then you realize that people you've known forever don't see things the way you do. So you keep the wonderful memories, but find yourself moving on.”

It can be tough, and sometimes just plain awkward, but its worth moving on. You'll feel so much better, and you'll look back on the memories with delight and contentedness.

I have exams coming up this next week, and a big video project competition to go along with all of that stuff... so wish me the best of luck!

My friend told me the other day that she couldn't be an artist because she is too much of a perfectionist. I responded to her that as a photographer I am always trying to perfect my work, and in the end, I am rarely ever completely satisfied.

However, sometimes I am satisfied, and it is still hard to share my work with others. I begin to continuously think to myself, "will other people like it," or, "how could I make it better." In a weird way, my photographs are like a child. I craft their visions and personalities in the beginning, and then release them into the real world, all in hopes that they make me proud.

Sometimes they turn out to make me not so proud, but nonetheless, I still love every single one of them. No matter how much I prepare them beforehand, each one has its own special way of fitting into the world and delivering its message.

Anyways, I hope everyone appreciates the work that they do, and sees the importance in every image.

I wasn't so sure if I liked this picture that I took of Hannah awhile back, but I decided to play around with it a little bit tonight. All in all, I think I like the way it turned out way more than I had imagined. I guess this illustrates the beauty of post processing.

I have been back to school for the new semester for about 3 weeks now, and the whole "college budget" thing is getting quite annoying . What am I trying to say exactly? Well, I would love some friend chicken, mashed potatoes, and lima beans right now. Seriously though, just think about how sad it is that I am writing about food...

Anyways, getting my mind off that subject for a second, I opened a store on Etsy.com that can be seen here, where you can buy some of my prints I have up for sell (I plan on adding more as time goes on) I need every penny...heck, maybe I'll buy myself some food. Mmmmm...

Begrimed Torpor

I think I spend too much time walking around the apartment complaining to my roommates about wanting to take pictures, and never actually going out and taking them. It is kind of weird because I sit around knowing what I want to take, but not having the foggiest idea of who, when, where, or how I am going to shoot the idea.

Finally, one of my roommates, Chase, talked about the importance of taking action, and then about how everything will start to play out once you take that first initiative. Therefore, Chase, Gavin, David and I went out to look for some spots for this idea I had been talking about.

After picking David up, we went to a parking lot at Goodwill and found an empty Walmart shopping cart. We ended up pushing the cart a good distance to a nicely lit spot behind a Lowes, got Chase into the cart, setup our cameras, lit some smoke bombs, and started snapping pictures. All in all, I had a ton of fun going out with the guys and being a little mischievous for the sake of photography :P
