Taken at Thorpe Perrow arboretum, Yorkshire, England. It was the colours and shapes which caught my eye for this composition.

Tricky lighting here, but I tried my best to retain as much detail as possible, whilst still showing movement in the wings.

Even I find it hard to believe that I was half a mile away when I took this shot. I posted a similar picture earlier in the year, but this gives more detail of the boat and the crew. The chap on the right looks quite laid back to me, probably chatting about his holiday.

This beautiful butterfly was enjoying the sun on my patio this afternoon. It is a particularly good specimen with great colour and detail. Must have hatched only recently.

I wanted to freeze the movement in the wind, so used fill in flash on this occasion. The picture was taken at Harlow Carr gardens, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. Each year they prepare a bed for wild flowers.

A tiny waterfall really, barely 1 ft high. I used a very slow shutter speed to give the water a milky effect. Fairies may live here!

Roy is a well known character in Whitby, England. I saw him in near the harbour and asked if I could take his portrait, with his hair against the light. He made no comment, nor did he change his expression. His body language said it was OK, so I went for it. Of course in such conditions you have to spot meter the face, which can be a little daunting.
