Another from the full moon session. Gotta love those stars. It's weird, when you spend that much in an isolated environment surrounded by people in swimsuits and bikinis everyone tends to get a lot more comfortable with mild nudity.

Tequila helps this.

30 second exposure at moonrise, houseboat to camera right acting as a massive bounce for the moonlight.

Two new friends I made on this year's lake trip. We were there during a full moon, unlike last year where there was no moon and you could see the galactic plane at night. But this year the moon rose across from our beach and lit up the night to the point where we never even had to break out our headlamps to hike around.

This here is a 30 sec exposure. Brian and Cassie are being lit by the porch light on the houseboat, which cast a very nice directional light. The subjects had to stay as still as possible for 30 seconds, which isn't easy and I'm a bit surprised they did as good a job as this. But even with the slight blur you can make out the look of peace and serenity on Cassie's face, and that's what really makes this shot special for me.
Linty Wrist

Jeremy Lusk posted a photo:

You may have seen this bracelet in some of my photographs. I've been wearing it for over two years, and every morning I wake up and there's a thin layer of lint on it. I guess it's coming from my bedsheets. So at some point in the day I peel it off, and then I miss it for a second until it dawns on me that it'll be back again the next day.

This simple act stirs up all sorts of thoughts. I think about how long my sheets will last if this bracelet keeps taking little pieces of it every night. I think about the dreams I had the night before. And I think of the street in Amsterdam where I got the bracelet and the person who bought it for me. From there, my mind wanders in all directions as I go about the rest of my day.

But the lint only seems to come from my own bed. So if I go away for a weekend and sleep in a different bed, I lose out on that little moment of happiness when I get to peel it off the bracelet. I guess the point is that ten years ago I never would have imagined that a little bit of lint every morning would be something I'd miss. No wait, the point is that it's the little things in life that mean the most.

Life's fuckin' weird.

On a side note, I'd like to point out how hard it is to photograph your own right wrist with a lens that can't focus closer than 18 inches. I'm still a little sore from the contortion.

In LA, we get clouds like we got today maybe three or four days a year. But they were too thick to make for a really good sunset. Fortunately, just was I was about to give up I turned around and saw the full moon rising through the dusk.

My nose is getting better. And despite my two-face look here, I'm not really trying to hide it. There's a little scarring which I'm trying to reduce, and it's just a little more crooked than it already was.

Fortunately, it hasn't stopped me from surfing. I've gone 3 days this week and it's been great. It's also made me a bit more cautious out there, which is a good thing too I guess.

If you're wondering, those are 6 LED keychain lights taped with masking tape to roll of--wait for it--masking tape. It fits perfectly around my 50mm lens and makes a pretty sweet ring light!
