I thought this was the orange peel fungus, but following comments from devonteg and © evan 47, I think it is more likely to be scarlet elf cup. Thanks guys.

We came upon several large nests and colonies/swarms of these giant (10mm long) wood ants at the edge of a path in the Teign valley, near Dunsford. I couldn't resist a few shots, but kept my distance - didn't really want to risk being bitten or sprayed with acid.
