Flint and Rochelle get intimate.

I would put a shirt on Flint; the trouble is that those wings limit my options, and neither of the shirts that came as part of the set and thus have holes for his wings at the back go with the snazzy pants. And I don't really want to go cutting holes in the backs of all my other boys' shirts.

I had also been thinking of cutting Rochelle's hair short, but my wife vetoed that idea. When I mentioned it to her, she shook her head and said she thought it looked fine the way it was. She then proceeded to arrange Rochelle's hair like that and moved her hand to hold it in place. Since that's arguably the first time she's ever offered an opinion on one of my dolls, never mind actually "playing" with one, I figured I'd better take her advice!

I do still think her hair could do with a little trim, though, just so that the pink strands are even in length with the turquoise ones. What do you guys think?

As she continues to pick her way through the dense jungle, Nefera notices that the faint roaring sound she'd heard before has been steadily growing louder. Then the jungle thins and she emerges into a clearing at the base of a tall cliff, down which tumbles a clear stream of water.

"Ah, a stream! A bath is just what I needed," she says to herself. "Oh, but where are the servants when you most need them? I shall have to stoop to washing myself. Oh, how common! It is a good thing there is no one around to see me."

Nefera got lost in the jungle while out doing a photoshoot for a modeling agency. She finds this extremely distasteful, as everything she touches or steps on is wet and slimey and quite possibly alive!

On the outskirts of the forest, we came across a swift-flowing river. We decided to follow that for a bit to see where it led. Not long after we'd entered a sort of swampy area, we were ambushed by some giant crocodiles!

We managed to fend them off long enough for Zissiren to come up with the brilliant idea of jumping into the water and letting it carry us away. That worked, although I think the rocks in the river hurt us more than the crocodiles did. Ha ha.

And now we have to spend the night shivering and cold because Trixie says we mustn't light a fire lest it bring unwanted attention.

This shot didn't turn out as well as I would've liked. I wish my camera had one of those flip-out LCD screens, so I could still see it when I'm not standing behind the camera. Posing the dolls for this shot was pure guesswork, and I still didn't get any of them looking straight at the camera. I don't really like the way Spectra's feet are just sort of hanging down, and Scarah's coloring is too similar to the background. Oh well. Not every idea works out the way we want it to.

Testing my new toy: some battery-powered fairy lights. I accidentally bought the wrong color (warm white instead of pure white), but I was able to rectify it a bit in photoshop so it didn't look so yellowy-orange.

In other news, my wife is returning to work next week. It's hard to believe six months have gone by already (well, seven, since she took a month off before the baby was born).

The reality of the situation is starting to sink in for me. I won't be able to go gallavanting around the city much anymore, nor will I be able to stay up till all hours of the night taking photos ... so unfortunately, I think my productivity is about to take a drastic nose dive. :(

I will still attempt to take photos and share them on Flickr as often as I can. I just can't make any promises.

I'm not entirely sure what to say about this one, so I think I'll just talk about the process a little bit.

For starters, the globe itself does not glow. I illuminated it using my reading light, which I'd wrapped in the baby's fuzzy yellow washcloth. I took a second shot with the light facing up to get some glow on their faces, and then I took a third shot with my regular flashlight to paint the whole scene.

Lastly, I merged the three images together in photoshop and processed them as I usually do (I crop the image; adjust the levels, shadows/highlights, saturation, sharpness; get rid of the hot pixel spots and other blemishes; and so on) and this was the end result!

I keep looking longingly at the Barbie horses and the like in the toy shops and wishing I could justify splurging on one to use as a mount for my MH gang ... and then it occurred to me that I already have the perfect thing!

I bought this AT-AT "mini" for use in my now-defunct Star Wars RPG game, and it's been sitting in its box ever since. I figured it was time to put it to some use. What do you think?

On a sad note, I got an e-mail today from Mattel's "commercial permissions" department indicating that my request for permission to sell prints of my MH photos has been declined.

On a positive note, my Flickr views broke the 100,000 mark sometime in the past few days! Not that the view count really means much what with all the bots but still ...
