Old and new Årsta railroad bridges, Stockholm.

The ice made a lot of rather disturbing cracking, grinding and popping sounds due to temperature variations as I was taking these pictures. It reminded me of natures awesome force and made the otherwise desolated place feel almost alive.

The most simple, clean and straightforward approach often works best. But sadly it's pretty much the same picture I shot years ago, but with a icy "coke" flavour this time around.

I was drawn to this place yet again for picture making. Fortunately the light seems to change quite a lot even at night (due to clouds and amount of snow probably) so something new about the scene catches my interest every time. The blue tones were exaggerated through whitebalance / tint during RAW conversion.

There's something special about night photography. It always amazes me that so much light and colour can be gathered if you just give it some time. A lot more than what's visible to the naked eye.

I also love going these places a cold evening when most people simply won't. Possibly being the only one enjoying that view, in that particular light and weather, at that very moment.

Apart from the distant traffic noise it was pretty quiet there. I guess sometimes I'm (semi-subconsciously) imagining being an explorer of alternate worlds. Sneaking behind the scenes of the ordinary city. At these moments it really feels like an exotic and magical place. Not mainly the setting of hectic modern lives and everyday routine, which I'm normally a part of myself.

And even when I don't manage to make a nice photograph, moments like these are still quite enjoyable. I just look, listen, enjoy thermos coffee and let the mind run free for a bit.

This is one of the streets adjacent to ours, it's so cozy covered in frost and snow.
Custom whitebalance was set since I much prefer unnatural blue to the extremely orange/brown colour from most of the streetlights.

This is right outside our home. These trees are pretty far away from any streetlights, so I guess light pollution in general was more than enough.
