The Poppy is an Angiospermae or flowering plant of the family Papaveraceae. Ornamental poppies are grown for their colorful flowers; some varieties of poppy are used as food, whilst other varieties produce the powerful medicinal alkaloid opium which has been used since ancient times to create analgesic and narcotic medicinal and recreational drugs. Following the trench warfare of the 1st World War which took place in the poppy fields of Flanders, red poppies have become a symbol of remembrance of soldiers who have died during wartime.

Canyamars one of the three villages that comprise the municipaltity of Dosrius, in the comarca of Maresme. It is situated in the base of the valley between the mountains of Corredor and Montalt.

Canyamars one of the three villages that comprise the municipaltity of Dosrius, in the comarca of Maresme. It is situated in the base of the valley between the mountains of Corredor and Montalt.

Maresme's territory occupies a long and narrow area between the Mediterranean Sea and the hills of Serralada Litoral (Catalonia's coastal mountains), and specifically Montnegre's and Corredor's hills in the northern half and Sant Mateu's hills in the southern half. This particular shape has conditioned both the geography and the history of this comarca. Probably the main distinct elements of its geography are the characteristic rieres (torrents). These short, intermittent water streams, which cross the comarca transversally almost every hundred meters, produce powerful and dangerous floods when it rains.

Alella (Catalan pronunciation: [əˈɫeʎə]) is a village in the comarca (shire) of Maresme in Catalunya. It is situated on the coast on the south-west side of the granite Litoral range. The town is known for its wines, cava and perfumes, but is also a commuter town for nearby Barcelona. What used to be the old Roman Road (Via Augusta) uniting Rome and Andalusia, is still today a narrow road running through the village.
