Butterfree!

Well, more like butterfly on hat, but I still like the reference....

This was taken at the Carleton Annual Butterfly Show. They have thousands of butterflies in a green house for about a week. Think tropical jungle, hot humid and full of school kids :) Oranges and white hats seem to be butterfly magnets.

www1.carleton.ca/biology/annual-biology-butterfly-show/

"Some butterflies love to land on colourful clothing or you could just put your hand underneath and they would climb on. So bring your kids or your camera or both and enjoy this exhibit! But hurry, it’s only on as long as the butterflies’ lifespan!

The 10-day show features 1,300 butterflies that arrive in five separate shipments, representing 41 different species worldwide."

Just downstream of Hogsback Falls in a small loopback. The light was quite nice since the rain had conveniently cleaned the air for the last WEEK! There were actually a surprising number of people walking along the "river".

The dark side of Autumn

Autumn is not all colours and light. There is also a seedy side to it as well. The end of the season provides a huge amount of defunct vegetation that has to be cleaned up somehow.

In a rural setting, it's no big deal, (just toss the leaves into the "back 40"), but in a suburban environment, it means buying huge number of "Lawn Waste" bags and loading up landfills :(
