Beau Vallon és una de les millors platges de les Seychelles, especialment per les insuperables postes de sol que ofereix. Però també és de les més concorregudes, ja que en certa manera és la platja de la capital.

At least, the most impressive that I've ever seen.

Beau Vallon is one of the finest beaches in the Seychelles, specially for the awesome sunsets it offers. It's a very big beach, but in weekends could be quite crowded (for the Seychelles), because in a way is the beach of Victoria, the capital of the country.

Anse Source d'Argent és una de les més famoses i boniques de tot el món, i té fama de ser la més fotografiada. Segur que l'heu vista en més d'un salvapantalles tropical, o anunci de desodorant! Anse Source d'Argent es troba a la costa sud de l'illa de La Digue, a les Seychelles, i només s'hi pot anar a peu.

Ah, i tingueu en compte que en el procés de fer aquestes fotos, el meu mòbil va morir en combat. Endevineu com...

Anse Source d'Argent is, so they say, the most photographed beach in the World. I could be. Certainly it's gorgeously beautiful, and I can bet something that all of you have seen it in some screensaver or in a tv ad. It's located in the southern shore of La Digue Island, Seychelles.

Looks pacific and idylic, but in the process of taking these pictures my mobile phone went KIA because I was so inmersed in water and the camera, that forgot my mobile in my pocket! :-(

Siurana és un dels pobles més espectaculars de Catalunya. Envoltada per cingles, és el paradís de l'escalada. També compta amb unes vistes impressionants sobre el Montsant, així com una església romànica. Hi viuen uns 30 habitants.

Aquesta és sens dubte la vista més icònica de Siurana; també és un dels meus primers HDR. Que consti que fa un temps jo hi estava en contra, dels HDR; però ara només estic en contra dels hipersaturats, fotos que al final ja no semblen fotos.

The tiny village of Siurana has one of the most dramatic locations in Catalonia. Part of the municipality of Cornudella de Montsant, it lays about 40 km norht-east of Tarragona.

It's almost completely surrounded by cliffs, and a paradise for climbers. Only about 30 people live up there, but there are 2 restaurants and an small hotel, where we spend a couple of nights.

This is the beautiful and austere romanesque church, hanged above the cliffs. Also here you can see the most iconic view of Siurana. I'm sure every visitor takes this picture.

View of the Constanti refinery, just north of Tarragona. It's not the usual view of the city.

The title in catalan is taken from the song "Constantí, molta merda i poc vi", from the local rock group Els Pets, and means 'Constantí, a lot of shit and no wine'. In fact, nearby villages do have many wineyards, but Constantí has this chemical plant.

El monestir de Santa Maria de Lluçà (de fet un priorat), es troba al cor del Lluçanès (el nom prové de "kastro luziano", és a dir, el castell d'un cert Lucianus). D'estil romànic (excepte la façana), és petit però preciós, especialment el claustre.

The abbey of Santa Maria de Lluçà (in fact a priory) takes its name from the medieval "kastro luziano", that means Lucianus' castle. It looks that the place had links to the late antiquity. The present abbey, dating from 1170, is preserved in the church and the small but perfect cloister.

L'església barroca de Karlskirche, a Viena, és un dels exemples més espectaculars del barroc. Tot i que no és un estil que m'entusiasmi (sóc més de romànic i gòtic), en aquest cas s'ha de dir que és un edifici magnífic, especialment per la doble columna a imitació de la Colonna Traiana.

This is the Karlskirche, in Vienna. It's one of the most spectacular baroque churches I've ever seen. I'm not a fan of baroque style (I prefer romanesque and gothic), but this particular church is impressive, specially in it's proportions. As roman history specialist, I like the detail of the double "Trajan columns".

L'església de Surdesti fou la més alta d'Europa (de fusta) fins fa uns 15 anys, en que es va construir el monestir de Barsana. Però una cosa és aixecar un campanar de 76m. el 1995, i l'altra, aixecar-ne un de 72m. el 1766!!!

Maramures és la regió de Romania més al nord de tot, i fortament aillada per les muntanyes. Fins fa poc era un reducte de la vida tradicional de pagès com pocs a Europa. Desgraciadament s'està perdent a marxes forçades per la modernització portada pels emigrants que tornen. Així i tot, encara hi queden parts que semblen literalment anclades al segle XIX.

This is the uniate church of Surdesti. It dates from 1766 and has a height of 72m.!! In 1995 in Barsana they surpased it with a monastery 76m. hight. But it's not the same to build so hight in the XX Century than in the XVIII Century!!

Maramures is a unique place in Europe. It's located in the north of Romania. A place were you could travel to the XIX Century; a very traditional and charming countryside and villages. But sadly this is changing everyday, becoming more modern. This could be good for the people of Maramures in a way, but it's sad to see that maybe they will lose a great deal in the proces, specially their beautiful wooden villages and traditions.
