Crec que la primera pel·lícula no infantil que vaig anar a veure al cinema fou "Encontres a la Tercera Fase", quan jo deuria tenir uns 8 anys. Buf, quins records... Evidentment la imatge del creuer de la Sagrada Família va despertar en el meu cervell una connexió immediata amb l'escena final de la pel·lícula, quan la nau alienigena contacta amb els humans. Close Encounters, by Steven Spielberg was my first movie experience in the big screen of a cinema. I was more or less 8 years old, and was, wow, such a magical experience. So, when I saw the completed vault that Gaudí designed for the Sagrada Família basilica in Barcelona, just completed on the inside last year, my brain made the conection. That's a close encounter with art. Ah, and the scene in question is this one:

Vista de la nau central i lateral des del creuer de la Sagrada Família. Tota aquesta part, un cop estigui realment acabada, perdrà una mica de lluminositat però guanyarà en colors pels vitralls multicolors que encara hi falten.

Com si un gegant provés de burxar la Sagrada Família amb un llevataps immens, aquesta escala de cargol té un antagonista en forma d'ocult i perillós túnel del tren d'alta velocitat, que sí que burxa per sota la Façana de la Glòria.

A detail of one of the spiral stairs in the side naves of the Sagrada Familia. Another kind of corkscrew, more real and dangerous, is the hight speed train tunnel gnawing under the temple. Gaudí obviously didn't thought about this danger to the structure, and only time whould tell if all it's ok...

Aquí mirem la Façana del Naixement des de l'interior. Recordo la primera vegada que vaig visitar la Sagrada Família als anys 80, i els balconets que ara donen al transepte i al bosc de columnes, s'obrien al cel i els núvols... més o menys com en aquesta foto:

Here we are looking east from the center of the nave, to the interior side of the Nativity Façade, the first built. It was the only part Gaudí saw built before his death in 1927.

I remember visiting the same place and above this gothic windows there was only the sky...

The Catalan basilica of La Sagrada Família (The Holy Family) in Barcelona, has just been consacrated by the pope Benetict XVI, and I was eager to visit it again... with my camera. In fact I've visited the awesome temple designed by Antoni Gaudí several times (5 at least), but last one was about 12 years ago.

It's being built since late XIX Century, and the planned conclusion will be about 2026!

De vegades no apreciem allò que tenim prop de casa, però la Pedrera realment és un edifici com d'un altre món.

Les golfes foren arranjades per a la visita ja fa uns anys i és meravellós veure com un espai purament funcional passa a ser una genialitat en mans de Gaudí, amb els seus arcs de maó talment com si fossin l'espinada i costelles d'una bèstia.

Gaudi's La Pedrera (real original name Casa Milà) is one of the most famous catalan's UNESCO World Heritage sites. In catalan, "pedrera" means a stone quarry, and it's the popular name for the building since it was built in 1906-1910.

Some years ago the space under the roof was opened to visits, and now houses a museum about Gaudi's building techniques. Although it was designed purely as a utiliy space, not to be seen, it's parabolic arches in brick are gorgeous curves.

Els Jardins Artigas son un bonic racó de La Pobla de Lillet, un fragment de Gaudí als Pirineus. Es com una versió en petit i senzill del Park Guell, però amb el Llobregat al mig!
