This is the Ripoll river, which cuts a gorge all along my hometown, Sabadell. About 20 years ago it was no more than an open air sewer, but an effort of water treatment and arrangement of the paths and areas arround it now makes it look quite good a place to walk. Fishes and birds, like ducks and egrets had returned too.

El vapor de García-Planas, Sabadell, també conegut com Artextil. Deu ser una de les xemeneies més altes de Sabadell.

This is one of the tallest chimneys in Sabadell, part of the Artextil textile factory. Once, the Sabadell skyline was composed of these industrial chimneys, and the city, my hometown, was known as the "Catalan Manchester". Today almost all those factories are silent, although the chimneys still stand and are protected as local landmarks.

A bird observatory in the Estany de Sils reserve.

This marsh or lake has been recovered a few years ago from what was Catalonia's largest lake. The original one, much larger that the present one, was drained in the XIX Century to gain agricultural surface and combat diseases.

A Little Egret (egretta garzetta) caught with my camera just in time, in the Estany de Sils, Catalonia. This marsh or lake has been recovered a few years ago from what was Catalonia's largest lake. Els gironins ja veureu que aquesta vista és impossible. És un petit 'divertimento' gràcies al photoshop. Crec que fou millor deixar Sant Feliu amb un sol campanar, ja que aquest sol acapara tota l'atenció. Però els mestres de cases que es veieren forçats a parar la construcció per la pesta negra no crec que compartissin el meu punt de vista ;-)

Aquesta és la porta sud de la Catedral de Girona, d'un gotic purissim, però no del tot original, com acabo de descobrir. Antigament l'arcada era molt més baixa, i a les fornicules hi havia les figures dels apostols destruides per la bogeria del 36, com tants d'altres.

This is the southern gate of the Cathedral of Girona. It's a perfect gothic arch, but it was modified in the XX Century. On one side, a lower frontal arch was eliminated, but on the other, the gothic statues of the apostles were destroyed in the iconoclast madness of 1936.

Girona is one of the most beautiful places in Catalonia, reminds me somehow of Florence, specially arround the river. It's also a crandle of Catalan independentism. It's now full of "estelada" flags, the Catalan flag with a star, white or red, representing our will of independence from Spain (and France). Now all the political process it's accelerating and hopefully in a year or two, it could be achieved!
