Anniversary necklace

gabriel studios posted a photo:

I cried when my husband gave this necklace to me. He asked a local artist and jewelry designer to make this in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. Ric knew I loved Davids other jewelry, so he gave David the stone and told him I liked copper and silver. This is the result. I've since been able to tell David how much I love this and he has shared some of his thoughts with me about his process and what goes on in that artist brain of his. His attention to detail his extraordinary.(the wire work is exactly the same on the other side of the stone) It seems most of his jewelry features natural materials; seeds, nuts and gemstones. (And in the case of my necklace, just a stone picked up off a hiking trail on Isle Royale National Park) He not only considers color and overall design, he also knows the history and origin of his materials. He considers how a piece feels to the wearer and manages to balance it all into a beautiful piece of art. I'm currently trying to talk him into getting an internet presence or at least adding his items to my Etsy shop, just to get a feel for the whole internet selling thing. I hope he does.

I didn't know what to call this series, until I read something a friend wrote about finding yourself awake in the wee hours.

Each pendant is made of polymer clay, impressed with interesting bits, carved and handpainted by yours truly. The trees, foliage and waves on the front are done in greens, browns, golden yellow, blues and black.

The disk in the middle spins to reveal the sun or moon. The disk stands proud of the sides, so you can change it on a whim.

It measures 2 inches
1 1/8 inches wide
3/8 of and inch thick

A friend made this for me...I think it is amazing. As far as I know this is the first piece he made with polymer clay, can't wait to see what comes next.
