Member Since March 2007

I've taken a few weeks to evaluate the changes made by Yahoo to the Flickr site, and have decided it's time to call it quits.

Flickr had always been honest with it's users, even when it didn't work, but under recent direction, the photographer and the community don't matter any more - dollars are the new mantra. I believe the way in which the changes were implemented, the poor quality of the changes and the complete lack of engagement with the Flickr community (and it was very much a community), means newFlickr is a place I no longer wish to be.

Along with many others, I will be moving out - with regret.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all the friends I've made on Flickr - both near and distant, virtual or real. I've learnt a huge amount through peoples feedback, the work of others, Flickr meets and online groups.

I will keep clicking, just not here, so if you want to see me pop over to Ipernity (find me here), or if you want to meet in the real world I'm the guy wandering around North Wales peering intently at mosses or ferns - come and say hi :D

Regards

duckinwales (now in Ipernity) posted a photo:

I spotted this Clubmoss in a florists 'sick bay' - dried and burnt. After a bit of care it seems to have recovered and is now flourishing in a terrarium.

I'm assuming it is a member of the Selaginellaceae by the arrangement of the leaves, and my initial thought was Kraus's Clubmoss, Selaginella kraussiana, however it seems both more robust, has fractionally larger leaves which are not minutely toothed. The lateral leaves are approx 2mm long, the alternate leaves on the upper surface of the stem are approximately 1.5mm long with an almost excurrent distinctly upturned nerve extending from the tip.

Any help with ID, suggestions for suitable references or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

ISBN 0852638116
An 'introduction' to lichens, however introduction straight in at the deep end, but quite readable, and covers an awful lot for such a small publication!
