The gentleman in the straw hat portrayed his three daughters year after year so we saw them grow up at i Madonnari. Now that they are all grown up, they were not available to model, but one of them dropped by to help dad.

Though the subjects vary widely, this year even including Aung San Suu Kyi and the late Steve Jobs, there are always a few artists who stick to the subject that gave i Madonnari its name.

Dozens of photographers roamed the event. This one even brought his own ladder carrier — he did carry the camera himself... I guess the ladder enabled him to reduce trapezoidal distortion and take pictures of the artists without including the omnipresent tourist feet...

I like to see the chalk drawings at i Madonnari in their early stages: they may look more beautiful when finished, but I like to see them being created.
