I went out to a bar to meet up with some other new moms from a group on FB. I didn't know any of them--their babies are much older than mine. But I talked to a couple people and they were really nice. Sometimes it's hard to make the effort to go out for things like this, but I think it's worth it.

Malcolm has been loving grabbing his feet for a couple weeks. Now, any time he's on the changing table, up go the feet. And on Friday, he got his toes to his mouth!

Since the weather got cooler again after last week's heat, I finally got to try the babies in the Magic Sleepsuits! (I got two different sizes, on eBay, so I didn't have to pay full price on a gamble.) They are basically just extra heavy/fluffy sleepsuits that help the baby feel more secure, kind of like a swaddle. It's supposed to be good for graduating babies out of Rock N Plays. Ours transitioned to their crib over a month ago (I think?), but lately they've been having some long night wakings (like for an hour or more at 3am) here and there, with one or both ending up back in the Rock N Play for the rest of the night. Since they are getting too big for the RnP, I wanted a backup/other solution and was interested in these. This was getting ready for bed on Wednesday, and they'd had a great night in them on Tuesday. It's now Thursday--Wednesday night was also great (only a couple quick pacifier drops) and so far tonight they're doing great.

It's not clear if it's the suits or just happened to be the end of their little sleep regression, but regardless, we're happy for all of us to have better sleep!!

Emmett left, Malcolm right. The pink one is 6-9 months, so it's extra huge and hilarious on them. (I wasn't sure which size would be best since they're sort of on the cusp.) Yes, I don't care about putting my boy babies in pink things occasionally.

I was at the doctor's office for a checkup and wandered around with my camera. The office is part of the hospital complex--this is where we had the babies. :)

I can't believe I have two babies. Truly, literally, I have trouble believing it.

The two things I wanted for the day were: 1, a nap; and 2, a nice photo of me + babies. Done and done! Andy played entertainer so they would smile for the photos. :)

Malcolm was playing with this soft book toy. Emmett managed to grab it from him, and then Malcolm managed to grab some of it back. Sharing is a bitch.

I noticed this in our yard--I didn't know we had roses! (We're in a rental, and the landlord did/does the landscaping.)

I'm submitting this as my 'geometric' photo for the challenge from last week. Sorry it's late! I figure that there's some kind of naturey, golden-ratio thing going on. :)

I've never gone shopping with babies--I either go when a nanny is on duty or after babies are asleep. On Tuesday I wanted to do an outing with the babies and figured I should give Target a try. It went well! Partly because I had a short list and didn't dally or browse. I'm not sure if I want to attempt a grocery trip--pushing the stroller and pulling a cart sounds really unwieldy.

Sunday we had decided to go on an outing. Settled on a short 'hike' in Forest Park (which is a giant park to the NW of downtown Portland). It was hard to find and when we finally found the trailhead, we realized that we'd left the diaper bag at home. D'oh! We carried on with the hike though, and it was lovely to be out in a forest on a pretty day. We didn't have time to get to the end of the trail (because we wanted to get home in time for their next feeding), which was supposed to afford views of the three closest mountains--Hood, St Helens, and Rainier. We saw two of them on our way though--see previous photo.

A super gorgeous day...and we were inside the whole time. Babies are still being weird with naps, which meant our day/schedule was uncertain. We did manage to squeeze in a short walk to the nearby playground park right before their dinner/bedtime. We went on the swings with them in carriers, then put Emmett in the baby swing by himself. He had a good time! (This was our second trip to the swings; they both did the baby swing a couple weeks ago.)

Finally ready/excited to start working on reclaiming some muscle tone. On Wednesday's walk I did a bunch of stairs (and felt the ouch for several days...) so after Friday's walk I did some basic floorwork/dumbbells at home. It felt good!

On Thursday I realized that these babies must be going through some kind of regression. The two nights prior they screamed going to bed, which they never do, and they also were up for over an HOUR around 3am both nights. Then their napping schedule went way off. Malcolm here was refusing to nap, while Emmett snoozed for an hour and a half. (For two months or so they've had a very set schedule--that they set themselves. Normally they nap for 45 minutes at a time, 3 times a day.) Malcolm did finally doze off for half an hour after an extra snack.
