Anti-Wind Farm Poster

Resistance to the positioning of wind turbines in the Lake District. Wind farms move electricity production in to different geographical areas than those that have experienced coal burning. There are clearly issues of aesthetics and potential damage to wildlife surrounding wind technology, but until we reduce energy use and localise its production this may be the best choice.

Presenting the green energy alternative as not building a clean removal technology where the wind blows means that we are choosing a legacy of global warming gases and/or nuclear poisons.

The campaigning group writes:

"We strongly OBJECT because of the environmental impact on the unique landscapes across Lakeland and Eden.

THE “GREEN”, ENVIRONMENTALLY-SOUND ALTERNATIVE FOR THE NORTHERN FELLS IS NOT TO BUILD TURBINES ON THIS PRISTINE LANDSCAPE. IN ATTEMPTING TO SOLVE ONE ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM WE MUST NOT LEAVE A LANDSCAPE NIGHTMARE AS OUR LEGACY."

Believed to be the first time bananas have fruited outside in the UK.

Olive tree behind, possibly the largest in the UK. This was probably also the first fruiting olive tree in the UK but global climate change has already made this less of a rarity.
