This was the first time that I have returned to Nant Gwynant since I camped there last October. The lush summer green makes it far more difficult to create successful images. I started at the large campsite on the shores of Llyn Gwynant and worked up the alley towards the Llanberis Pass. This was not one of my more successful days, I enjoyed the walk, but found the valley a little uninspiring. I’ll try heading the opposite way next time towards Bedgelert.

I have managed to return to the old copper mine workings in Cwm Bychan after three months absence. One of the good points about this part of the Snowdonia National Park is the way that they let nature takes its course on the majority of areas like this. There are, of course, the obligatory seats and paths but the National Park make no efforts to ‘beautify’ the area.

Unfortunately March in North Wales usually means rain, which may not agree with digital backs on Hasselblads, but does create some interesting tones and colours. Wet colours are so much more saturated than dry ones.
I've been putting off some images since last October, my sensor had attracted terminal dust and I knew that it was going to take some time to re-touch. This time re-worked in black and white.

I took this in Chew Valley, overlooking Dovestone Reservoir in the Peak District National Park. I have photographed this tree several times over the past few years and never really been happy with it. It was just not big enough, now it's grown a bit it fits the scale of the scene better.

This was shot on my Hasselblad 503cxi fitted with the ixpress v96 back
I've been putting off some images since last October, my sensor had attracted terminal dust and I knew that it was going to take some time to re-touch.

More images from when I was camping at Nant Gwynant in October. The warden of the camp site told me about some old mine workings a few miles walk from the site. They were reached by climbing the Watkins Path to the waterfalls then crossing the very narrow footbridge and following the path towards the top of the valley. The workings were a bit exposed to fit in with the Cwm Bychan work, but still worth the visit, and as you can see, it was my favourite weather conditions – wet!!
