Over the weekend, I posted an Instagram photo of the new clear 4x4 round plate (with 2x2 round cutout). Sean Tubridy commented that it could be used to create a rotary phone out of Lego. It was a brilliant idea, and I took him up on his challenge.

This year, I wanted to offer variants of my Lego holiday ornament projects using new and/or rare colors. That's a key reason I set up my own storefront for building kits. I'm currently offering the barrel ornaments in eight different color combinations, including this lavender/purple model you see here.

Build it Yourself 2012: The Barrel Ornament

Okay folks, here's the first holiday Build-it-Yourself project of the year!!! I call this one "The Barrel" and it's really a lot of fun to build. It's also extremely easy to customize with different colors, which I think is especially fun for kids. Don't like the basic red? Try green. Or yellow. Or both! (Heck, you can even pop in some pink if you have it lying around.)

You can grab the instruction guide and part lists over on my website, and then order the parts from Lego's Pick a Brick.

Alternatively, you can buy a kit directly from me via my Storenvy store. I'm offering lots of interesting color combinations and rare colors. And as a bonus, I'll take 10% off the price of each barrel ornament if you buy four or more!
