I really like your 'fly on leaf' image entitled: 'Arthropods (Arthropoda) » Insects (Insecta) » Flies (Diptera) » Calyptratae Coon Creek 10 April 2010'. Would it be possible to use this in the design? If you like then you can send me your email address and I will send you a pdf of the page with your image on it. With regards, H. Hamilton (Knoydart_twelve)"

Sticky Monkey Flower from Montana de Oro California State Park Coon Creek Digital Photo Walk 10 April 2010. Mimulus aurantiacus, the orange bush monkey-flower or sticky monkey-flower.

Tech note:
I was asked how I got the nice light here - I shot in RAW, and in the Lightroom conversion I was able to shape the "curves" to get a nicer contrast than the camera would have selected. There is no local processing or selective dodging or burning. I forget the details, but I may have swiped up or down to increase brightness or saturation of selected parts of the image (changing globally all instances of that "color"). I sometimes apply a slight vignette in Lightroom to de-emphasize the outer regions, although I don't think I did it on this image. Post-processing time was under a minute of fussing around. I never use Photoshop anymore to manipulate images... or if I do I always annotate the description to make that very clear.
