Ruby Desk Topper - Buckle Detail

There is a tiny buckle used for the pencil/pen section - at first I just wanted it to be decorative, but by default it ended up functional!! You can cinch it snug so the pens and pencils aren't hanging all over willy-nilly like!

Ruby Desk Topper - Front

This is my Ruby Desk Topper. We are in the process of discussing bringing some color and freshness to our very drab office - what better way to do that than to add a little Ruby to our work days? I used a Ruby Charm pack for this poject, as well as some green dot Ruby yardage and Bella snow.

I wanted to use the front of my desk topper as a sampler of sorts for some of the quick and simple squares that can be made out of a Moda charm pack or a layer cake - I have chosen to feature pinwheels, chevrons, diamonds and hour glasses.

Some of my best quilting customers are my coworkers, what better way to demonstrate than with something lovely at my desk?

Ruby Desk Topper - Back

The back part of the topper hangs down beside my work station. I have added picture frames featuring my nephews and my husband, there is a little vase built in for flowers (which would also work great for scissors), a pencil holder and a holder for my stapler. (I made the flower holder out of a thermometer case!)

I must say, I have found it so handy having my stapler in my desk topper!!! I think today was the first day ever I haven't had to hunt my stapler down through piles of work!

The top of my Ruby Desk Topper features some wonky blocks made out of charm squares - it sure seems to get a lot of attention!
