Brazilian climber Tomás Gridi Papp free climbs the last pitch of "Domingos Giobbi", a classic aid route on the south face of Pedra do Baú. São Bento do Sapucaí, São Paulo, Brazil, Sunday, May 16, 2004.

Domingos Giobbi, is a classic aid route conquered in 1989 by Luis Makoto Ishibe and Hugo Armelin. The route was first graded as a 5.9 with A3 in very loose rock with its last pitch being considered the A3. Now, with more modern equipment and stronger climbing techniques, it can probably be considered an A2+ with 5.11c free climbing the last rope length.

Pedra do Baú, together with its sisters Pedra do Bauzinho and Ana Chata, form a sharp rocky ridge that reaches as high as 1,950 meters (6,397 feet) with 350 meter (1,148 feet) tall cliffs. It is located inside a natural reserve and attracts tourists and rock climbers from all over the country for its beautiful views and excellent climbing routes.

Spanish Kite rider Cesar Portas 23. disassembles his Kite Surfing equipment after a good day of training at Barra do Gramame beach in João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil, Monday, Sept. 18, 2006.
A few days later on Sept. 24, Cesar won second place on PKRA World Tour last stop and final competition held down in João Pessoa (BRA), reaching 8th place on the general 2006 world rank. Word Champion Aaron Hadlow didn't step onto the podium on this last competition leaving first place to Portuguese rider Rui Meira and third place to Dutch rider kevin Langeree. (Mandatory Credit: Theo Ribeiro Photography)

This shoot was taken using two SB800 Flashes with warming gels and a handheld camera just after sunset. The first flash was positioned on a small tripod to the left using a Manfrotto Spring clamp and triggered using Nikon's CLS system system and the second one was attached to the camera through a TTL Cable lighting the right portion of the image and triggering the other flash. I metered to keep the sky exposed right (a bit dark), putted white-balance in manual mode to something like 3800K and used tungsten colour gels on the flashes. Not much time to adjust flash ratios and position as I wasn't interfering with the scene and it was happening pretty fast so the shoot is totally spontaneous. Nikon D2x Camera, Nikkor 12-24mm f/4 lens at ISO 100, 1/100s and f/5.

Stopover Rio de Janeiro, Volvo Ocean Race 2005-2006. New Zealander sailor Brad Jackson (right), 37, tiredly waits to dock sailing at night on ABN AMRO ONE just after crossing Leg 4's finish line in first place. Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Saturday, March 11, 2006.
For skipper Mike Sanderson and his crew in ABN AMRO ONE, current leaders of Volvo Ocean Race, it was over 20 days, 1 hour and 48 minutes at sea until they arrived at "Marina da Glória" in first place at 03:18 GMT having left Wellington, NZL on Feb. 19, 2006.
This shoot was actually taken with just one SB800 remote flash attached to a Photoflex LiteDome Q39 Softbox (on the left of the frame) triggered by an on-camera Master flash using Nikons CLS system. It is a totally spontaneous shot, I got on board as soon as ABN AMRO ONE crossed the finish line on Guanabara Bay and stood the trying not to bother the sailors and not interfering with the scene as we headed to the harbour and to the Welcome party. The camera was handheld and was a Nikon D2x with Nikkor 12-24mm f/4 lens at ISO 500, 1/4s and f/4.

Barbara de Oliveira Bomfim from Team Playboy, stares at the camera while carrying her mountain bike struggling down a very muddy and slippery terrain during the last stretch of Ecomotion Pro 2004.

The Ecomotion Pro is one of the world's largest and most challenging adventure races (and the greatest in Brazil as of 2007) and is part of the AR World Series circuit, the adventure race world championship. It was held in 2004 at the "Costa do Dendê" zone of the Bahia State in Brazil, a hot and humid stretch of the Brazilian coastline. A total of 196 athletes in 53 teams from several countries including Spain, United States and the Czech Republic among others, joined the race that took place from October 18th to October 23rd of 2004. It took 3 days, 5 hours and 45 minutes of hot weather, rain and mud through mixed ground, for Brazilian Team Mitsubishi Salomon Quasar Lontra to reach the finish line in first place. The athletes covered over 430 kilometres (267.1 miles) with disciplines ranging from trekking to mountain biking, orienteering, canoeing, white-water-rafting, vertical techniques and coastering. Only 24 out of the 49 teams that left the race start at the Maraú Peninsula (Península de Maraú) made it to the finish line in Itacaré completing the whole race.
