O Cabo Espichel é um dos locais mais notáveis da Costa Portuguesa, não só definindo o fim da zona terrestre e o início da imensidão do mar. Do ponto de vista ornitológico o Cabo Espichel é um importante local de passagem migratória de milhares de aves no final do Verão e início de Outono e ainda pela ocorrência ocasional de espécies oriundas de paragens longínquas, factos dque determinaram a criação da Zona de Protecção Especial do Cabo Espichel. Regista-se também um número, embora reduzido, de espécies residentes, de que se destacam as aves típicas que nidificam nas zonas escarpadas, com destaque para o Falcão-peregrino.
Do ponto de vista da flora destaca-se neste local a presença de duas espécies endémicas arrabidenses, a Corriola do Espichel e o Trovisco do Espichel, plantas extremamente raras que existem apenas nos afloramentos calcários e nas arribas costeiras do cabo Espichel.
Realça-se ainda no Cabo Espichel a sua componente geológica merecem referência especial as arribas de origem sedimentar formadas por múltiplas camadas diferenciadas, onde se podem encontrar vários conjuntos de pegadas de dinossauros.

Cabo Espichel (lit. Cape Espichel) is a cape located to the west of Sesimbra, Portugal. Tourists are drawn there due to breathtaking views of its cliffs facing the Atlantic Ocean.
The location is famous for the a sanctuary complex (lit. Santuário de Nossa Senhora do Cabo Espichel), built extremely close to the edge of the tall cliffs, which includes a church still in use today.
Also famous, are the several dinosaur fossil trackways exposed in some of the now tilted Jurassic strata which form the cape's cliffs. It is said that local superstition interpreted the trackways as the path taken by the Holy Virgin ("Nossa Senhora") when riding a giant mule from the ocean and up the cliffs, which led to the eventual construction of the convent at that location.

Cabo Carvoeiro lie at the westernmost point of the Peniche peninsula, next to the Atlantic ocean, in the Peniche municipality, Leiria district, Portugal. It is a place of great natural and scenic value, with a variety of strongly eroded limestone cliffs.
It faces the Berlengas archipelago, integrated in a natural terrestrial and maritime reserve.

O Cabo Carvoeiro situa-se no extremo da Península de Peniche, sobre o Oceano Atlântico, no concelho de Peniche, Distrito de Leiria, em Portugal. É um local de grande valor natural e paisagístico, com grande variedade de falésias calcárias fortemente erodidas.
É o ponto mais ocidental de Portugal continental a norte do Cabo da Roca. A oeste pode avistar-se o pequeno arquipélago das Berlengas, integrado numa reserva natural terrestre e marinha.
