It's also a monster weather for this time. Just 5 to 8 degrees Celsius were pretty anti-springlike today. I discovered some new sculptures at the lake in Rorschach. But it was not really fun to take pictures. This one is reminiscent of the Hundertwasser style. Rorschach, Switzerland, May 24, 2013.

I met my friend Bruno on the market with one of his classic cars. First registration on 1 february 1965. And as you can see, it still runs and is licensed. The gross vehicle weight is 2450 kg. This could be also the entrance to a modern bunker. But it is the carriage gateway to a new commercial building on the lake in Rorschach. When the environment design is finished and the weather is clear, I'll take photos here. The treacherous on this building is, there are no vertical edges. All surfaces are to each other at a slight angle. A subsequent perspective correction with a special program is not possible. Rorschach, Switzerland, May 24, 2013.

Hotel Wartenstein is almost like a museum. It has its own power supply with a gas-powered engine and generator. There is also offered an themed gastronomy and for guests there are guided tours if requested. The hat with the number 83 belonged once to a Swiss Federal Councillor. This is the most photographed wall in the Hotel Wartenstein, the owner said. Wartenstein had since a long time a special relationship with the Army. Officers of the large artillery fort on St. Margrethenberg lodged and came to dinner here. The owner had a special permit to drive into the fortress with the hotel bus to pick up the officers. That's quasi a view from hotel to hotel. From the terrace of the Hotel Wartenstein in Pfäfers, down to Bad Ragaz. Two hours ago I started my hike via the Porta Romana path at the bus stop Termina Therme at the Quellenhof, and now I'm up here at the finish. Focal length 35mm equivalent: 144mm. Distance 670m, height difference 225m. Pfäfers, Wartenstein, Switzerland, May 14, 2013.

In the upper part of the castle ruins. This was once a huge castle complex. In 1665 a fire destroyed the monastery of Wartenstein, and to rebuild it, large parts of this castle were broken off and used as building material. If you hike the Porta Romana path from bottom to top, there is the possibility to pass the castle ruin. This is not the official way, but easy to find because you can see the ruins. Follow the small road rightwards behind the guard cottage for the vineyards (previous picture), and walk across the meadow to a semi-ruined stone stairway at the stonewall. The vineyards of clinic St. Pirminsberg. The cottage on the rock was formerly used for guarding the vines. There are the highest situated vineyards in Eastern Switzerland, 720 m above sea level. Pfäfers, Switzerland, May 14, 2013.

The information boards at the Porta Romana are almost more interesting than the path itself. I have found a historical map of the underground cisterns. This underground passage with water cisterns begins at the hill of the Chapel of St. Georg. It is believed to be of Roman origin. Unfortunately, the entrance was buried for safety reasons. I have already explored the hill twice, but I still do not know what secrets it still holds. The spot with the mysterious door is blurred on all aerial photographs.
