Blackfriars Bridge Protest.

The dinosaur pretty much summed the whole fiasco up.

Blackfriars Bridge is quite known for being a poorly designed bridge (in the sense of infrastructure), especially when it often result in the death of people causes by motorised vehicles.

Recently TfL decided that it should be more like a small motorway instead by ignoring the need of pedestrian and cyclists whom ironically enough used the bridge more than motorised vehicles by adding more lanes, removing bicycle lane, and putting the 30mph limit back (previously was 20mph).

That proposal mean it'll be even riskier for peds and cyclists alike just so someone could get home a couple second earlier in their cars.

The protest last Friday was due to finding out that TfL decided to ignored thousand of complaints, alternative proposal design and statistic, despite claiming they're listening to us, they decided to stick with their gun and use their original plan.

It been quite a while since I've uploaded a new photos in Flickr, actually scratch that, it been probably a year since I did a proper one (and by proper, I don't mind rummaging around looking for something to upload).

I was invited to a wedding not long ago in July, and it was my first one, I protest when they recommended me because I have little to no experience of how to deal with wedding despite learning a lots in college, most especially (and I cannot stress the importance of this) a wedding where there's almost no chance of getting a second chance of doing the shot, they like the photos I do, but that's it, it's frightening how much faith they put in me on something I've never done before, yet that is.

To make matter worse, I've never been to that church in Wales to able to make plan and figure out which location is the best for a group photos and the like until the day of the wedding, and was finally told what the bride wanted me to take during the wedding despite asking her a month in advanced.

See, this is one of the many reason why I protest, I even recommended them some decents photographers but they still said "oh you'll be fine".

I took just two cameras and barely enough film (6 rolls), digital SLR for tricky/general shot, and medium format SLR for general.

I think it's a stroke of luck that they want the wedding to be quite small, and only a certain amount of photos; the couple themselves, couple with family, a group photos, and photos of them signing the registry, other were extra such as this photos.

I succeeded, despite having taken only 10 or so photos, they were extremely happy with all the 10 photos, and I know there are wedding photographer who took 250 photos, or even close to a thousand simply because the couples want 'more bang for their money', and because 'it's a digital, shoot as much as you can'.

This is my favourite photo, it's not a great one, but that's why I love it, it's a wonderful reality to a typical wedding, and needn't be a depressing reality that everyone don't want to see, the boy on the wall, the families with their tiny point and shoot cameras, the young bride with the pink flower on her head, the bride surprised at the reception of people clapping, the confetti on the tarmac etc.

This photos tell a story, most photos I seen of other were mundane and homogeneous, which I try very hard to avoid, and it's surprisingly how easy it is to fall down that road.

So let see what's going to happen in the next few years.

Went to Croydon Summer Festival in Lloyd Park on a Sunday, despite being in Darkest's Croydon, it was a superb day out, indians music (mostly), eastern food, fun fair, etc. defintely the best festival in London so far, especially since it wasn't crowded at all.

Normally your typical guide book are always places that are never great, but that particular little book just tick it to me, it featured places that I already been and are great.
Bagel shop are even in that book.

Just got my Contax T2, which replaced the T3, can't afford the T3 anymore.

Finally after a couple months wait, it arrived straight from the North of England, a custom order Bob Jackson/BLB frame (same as the Vigorelli with the exception of the Paul trackend, fluted seat stay and flat crown fork), still not finished with the build yet as this is temporary.

It ride like a beaut too despite not being as zippy as my old track bike, there's nothing better than riding a frame that fit you perfectly. view large for detail.

In true Leonie fashion, the bike is named "Wiffle" (Mrs Wiffle Pistacchio to be specific), most of the build inspiration came from fast boy, all that missing is the front chrome rack with wooden box that´s currently being fitted to complete it.

Four months ago, I promised Leonie that I'll build her a singlespeed bicycles, and not one for breaking promises, I went around looking for a reasonably small old frame to start off with, I got the frame braze-on removed (gear levels, brake cable holder, etc.), add a track end, and then got the frame powdercoated in pastel green with a glittery finish that look nicer than metallic by Armourtex in Hackney, the rest of the build is a piece of cake afterwards, apart from the tyres of which is a right bastard to put on, this was the most stressful Christmas ever trying to get the bike finished on time.

It was worth it just seeing her face on Christmas Day, view large. link for Large size, and here´s the link to a better view of the bike itself.
