So, I have taken a lot, and I mean a lot, of shots of these red Impatiens. This is the only one that turned out decent. I really like the way the sunlight brought out the velvety texture in the flower.

Found this tiny wildflower along the side of the road. It's a Canada Goldenrod or Solidago canadensis.

A brand new Dahlia in my garden. I have 4 Dahlia plants that I planted this year, not knowing what color they would be. So far I have a red & white, fuschia, and now this one. Can't wait to see the fourth! :)
I should add that there is a textured border on this image, which I added to diffuse some of the light around the edges, but the rest is all natural, including the color.

The Hyssop are very popular with several different types of bees. Today, I also found this caterpillar...first one I've seen this year. I was lucky enough the bumblebee decided to join the caterpillar while I was taking the shot.

Orange-belted bumble bee (Bombus ternarius). Not sure what type of flower or wildflower this is, but the insects were all over them, including this bee, who seemed to be really hungry. I only had taken two shots and my battery died :/

Papilio glaucus. Another beautiful swallowtail with a damaged wing...didn't seem to bother him a bit . Had fun walking around the acre's at my daughter's house today...she has butterflies :)
