I have some ten thousand photos of the series and I intend to upload some of them after this. But I'll leave Japan for Europe the day after tomorrow and stay there for three weeks, so probably I'll upload the new series taken in Europe for the time being. But I've not found out how I should take a photo in Europe yet…

In those days I worked in a joint venture during the day and took a picture at night. To begin with, I went to the station and photographed the migrant workers living in the square. Then I went to an unknown place by bus and took a picture of unknown people. I got home at midnight. Though I was utterly ignorant of photography, I was active and fearless at the time…

Now I have little time to take a photo, so I intend to upload my old photos several times.
I started to photograph in 1997. At that time I'd worked at a joint venture as a marketing manager in Guangzhou, southeast of China. In those days Chinese peasants were pouring into big cities, like an avalanche, and such peasants, on the scale of tens of thousands of people, also lived in front of Guangzhou railway stationーone of major terminals in China. I made my way into the midst of the crowd and took a photo every night. I was young, immature but energetic…

Piotr Debinski and I will hold a joint exhibition called RESONANCE from April 30 to May 18 in Lodz, Poland. I'm really grateful to him for his effort to realize it.

Strange to say, we haven't met yet. Since we became acquainted with each other 15 months ago, we've just watched each works on Flickr all the time. Just such fellowship has enabled us to hold an exhibition in spite of the distance between Europe and the Far East. It is the typical phenomenon in the era of the Internet and above all, it must be caused by some mysterious function in photography itself, I feel. We photographers see the world from a unique viewpoint and have an indescribable visual language. Though it includes various dialects, it could be a common language among us photographers. Piotr and I named it "resonance". An image of mine definitely resonates with another image of his in spite of the distance between two cities, that is to say, Lodz and Tokyo. An image of his mysteriously explains the sense of another image of mine in spite of the difference between their subjects. I hope that the exhibition will show you such resonance, a mysterious potential of our photography.
