Here is another shot of the famous pigeon point lighthouse from the archives. Consolidating my lightroom catalog has helped me find some gems which for some odd reason weren't selected during my initial pass.

The annual Fresnel Lighting of Pigeon Point Lighthouse happened today. The lantern room of the tower is equipped with the original first-order, 1000-watt Fresnel lens, the lens has 24 flash panels, is composed of 1008 hand-polished lenses and prisms and is capable of producing over 500,000 candlepower illumination. It was manufactured by the Henry-LePaute company in Paris, France and was first lit at Pigeon Point at sunset on November 15, 1872. Read more on Wikipedia

The first time I came to know about this event was in Nov, 2008. But it was after the fact and I was like "will try next year". In 2009, the event was cancelled due to budget constraints. In all I've waited for this moment for almost 2 years and I was extremely pleased that this happened this year. With couple of other folks from Bay Area Night Photography we made it to this place on time and managed to come out with a keeper. I'm pleased with the outcome as this version matches very close to what I had visoned for the past 2 years.
