Sagrada Familia - Window Light

This is Sagrada Familia. Probably much more recognizable from the outside but absolutely beautiful inside. The stained glass and the way the way light passes through any windows (stained glass or not) is impressive.

Background:

This is a grand cathedral that was started in 1882 with the foundations and the crypt and was taken over by Gaudi in 1883. It still isn't complete but it is being worked on. Projected completion is around 2026.

No tripods are allowed in the building.

Processing is very light duty, manually created HDR in PS with some masking. Shot with a 3 shot bracket. I used the middle exposure ( user settings ) and the higher exposure to bring out the shadows on the right ( camera automatically increased exposure ). The individual on the right looking towards the windows was slightly painted since she moved between shots. Other than that it's all natural.

This was a picture taken in the attic of La Casa Mila.

They won't tell you when you go in, but this is NOT a tripod friendly area.

This one was set on my camera bag after they made me put away my tripod. Cropped the bottom due to too much floor space and lack of an ability to angle the camera up a bit more.

Editing: Conversion to black and white and the removal of a centrally located sprinkler.

This is in Barcelona, Spain. This is just one of the stairwells going down into the subway station and headed to the Furnicular ( rack train ) de Montjuic. I found the lights here to be very interesting especially taking the picture so that only the brighter stuff is seen.

Editing: Took out two random reflections off something weird on the left ( your left ) and a video camera staring straight at us from the center of the image. I felt these items were distracting and took away from the pattern and the feel of the image. Also did minor crop and slight rotation since I was a little off during my brief stop mid-stair.

Selective Color

This is the color run. I really wish I could have actually participated in this but had to work immediately after.... needless to say it would NOT have been acceptable to show up plastered with colors.

This run is essentially a 5K where every kilometer you get hit with a new color of powered dye. Proceeds go to benefit Banner Health, Cardon Children's Medical Center ( at least the Az one does )

Pictures taken on a Canon 7D with 135mm L or Tokina 11-16mm.

This was an interesting edit since it is HDR but is not done with NIK or Photomatix. I just didn't like the results the other programs were producing in some of the areas.

This was done using selective masking and 3 exposures.

This is a 3 shot HDR. Set up a tripod at the double front doors. Shot with remote shutter release and did bracketed exposures. Nik HDR Efex Pro was used for processing which I think did a splendid job with a bit of tweaking.

This particular building was very interesting. The dome towards the center is actually not a dome at all but a flat ceiling painted to look like a dome from the front door's perspective.

Same view just a vertical shot so you can see some of the wicked painting on the ceiling.
