I don't do a lot of B&amp;W work, bright colors are my drug of choice. So it took me quite a few goes to get something I think is halfway decent. In the end showing it to others they prefer the color so I give up. I spent far more time on this than I should have. I visited the scene, planned the timing to the minute, the exposure count potentially needed, my route to and from the location.<br /> <br /> It, of course, all went belly up. I was not very happy about this. I tried to be as philosophical as I could, you have to be. But it still smarted. So I had to make up Plan B overnight.<br /> <br /> Plan B involved catching the moon setting in the west. This meant, for me, one of the west coast beaches near Auckland: Whatipu, Kare Kare, Piha, Bethells or Muriwai. I really liked what fellow Auckland based photographer <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickl2000/">Nick Langdon</a> had done at Muriwai with the moon but in my haste got myself confused and went to Piha instead.<br /> <br /> Title &quot;Moon *_*&quot; is thanks to <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nanihta/">Sol aka Nanihta</a>, it sums up I think how I go googly eyed about the moon.
