Finally got the pictures of kingfishers I have really wanted! At only 5.5m away using a 600mm F4 with a 1.4x teleconverter the bird is full frame on a 5D mk II. Quite an overcast day giving good diffuse light but low shutter speed of 1/90, F8 at ISO400.

Moon map around Posidonius crater

Moon map around the area of the Posidonius crater taken on 16th September 2011 and shows Jupiter taken on the same evening for scale. Apollo 11 landed just off the bottom of this picture in the Mare Tranquillitatis. Jupiter was showing its great red spot but none of the moons were in transet.
The map was produced using a modified Canon EOS600D using the movie crop function to produce video files which were processed in Registax 6 and montaged in photoshop. The scene was imaged with a Canon EF600mm F4 lens with a custom 5x barlow made from a televue 5x powermate encased in extension tubes to allow communication between lens and camera. The whole lot was mounted on a skywatcher HEQ5 pro to permit tracking.

Jupiter and Europa

Updated this picture with improved settings from Registax. September 17th 2011.
My first views of Jupiter in 2011 and you can see the moon Europa to the left. Imaged in the early morning of Weds 10th August 2011. Imaged with a baader filter modified Canon EOS 600D mounted to a Canon EF 600mm F4 lens. To achieve the magnification I used a televue 5x powermate encased in Canon EF extenders to maintain electrical contact between camera and lens to use remote shooting focus. The planet was then imaged as a 1080p movie using the crop sensor option on the 600D. The OTA was mounted on a HEQ5 PRO astromount and guided by CCD camera mounted to a Canon EF 300mm F2.8 lens to keep the planet steady by PhD guiding. The resulting movie was converted to an uncompressed AVI and processed in RegiStax (~350 frames) and photoshop. I left the Light Pollution Suppression Filter on by mistake so the image is a bit blue - school boy error!

The long walk in Windsor in infrared (modified 600D)

Believe it or not this is the picture straight out the camera with no tinkering in photoshop. The image of the long walk down to Windsor castle was taken with a modified Canon EOS 600D replacing the sensor filter with one from Baader to allow IR light through. A cokin P007 IR filter was placed in front of the Canon EF 17-40mm F4 lens. Plants reflect IR hence they are white while skies remain dark. Exposed for 0.7secs, F8 at ISO 100. Orion Nebula

The great nebula in Orion (M42). The image was taken using a Canon 5DmkII mounted on a Canon EF600mmF4 lens with 2.0x teleconverter with a noise pollution filter fitter. Five Subs of 1x15secs, 2x1min and 2x2mins used (F8, ISO800) in deep sky stacker and further processed in CS3. Camera was guided by a celestron nexstar imager mounted to a Canon EF300 F2.8 lens + 1.4x extender using PHD guiding software. Both imaging devices were mounted to a Skywatcher HEQ5 pro goto astromount.

Moon Panorama (+ Saturn!)

The moon captured on 14th March 2011 with Saturn shown bottom right for scale. The image was captured by 5 videos of the different regions using a Canon 5DmkII mounted on a Canon EF600mmF4 lens with 2.0x teleconverter. Each video was captured using EOS camera movie recorder at 5x and stacked in Registax v5.1, and further alligned and processed in CS3. Imaging devices were mounted to a Skywatcher HEQ5 pro goto astromount. Saturn is shown to scale bottom right taken the week before, great to see the rings opening up in 2011.
