Near Ferry Building is this view of many skyscrapers. Actually my original conception was just to shoot the empty space between the skyscrapers. I had 135mm on which is too close of a crop and not enough portion of buildings in the view to create a pleasant parallelogram outline, so I had to use 50mm instead and crop later. This is the cropped version

After some extensive study of the angle and the best lighting direction of the time, I picked this scene to replace my older shot of this fountain. Just as I finally done my study, the man on the bottom of this photo you see here just popped into the scene and began to gather some water from the fountain, and the girl playing around came over curiously asked him why he took water from the fountain. While I was waiting for them to leave, the man told a tall tale about his action, which I think it's a bunch of bull. It is my last frame of the roll, so no retake without them. I thought it was funny to capture the fountain while the man was telling his version of the story anyways. I don't usually think too much while taking a photo, but I remember I did think about how interesting the water should come between them.

After the handheld shot, I decided to put the camera on a tripod. I shot this one at a lower angle, which is better for this except it might hurt my back if I shot it handheld. Another reason for shooting on a tripod is because I had to stop down to f/16 for more depth of field, and without image stabilization, 1/30" is not really that great (doable, but won't be super sharp) for a handheld. Don't remember which lens was used, but most likely to be either 50mm or 35mm.

The concept of this photo is to provide a leading line to Ferry Building. Anyways, don't know who designed this thingy in the middle (some sort of raised concrete divider with metal detail), but I guess it looks nice for a photo shoot. :-)

It was EXTREMELY loud while I was waiting for MUNI Metro to get me to Ferry Building in San Francisco. The smoke coming out of this construction thingy looked dramatic to me so I took this. Didn't have time to change lens and jot down notes, so this is the frame and I don't know which focal length I used (looks like 135mm f/2.8 to me). The exposure is most likely wrong, but I was in a hurry....

It had backlit lighting, and the dramatic pose was quite perfect for silhouette.

I thought I took a note on this, but guess not.... But most likely it was shot with 50mm f/2 macro with lens hood on. Orange filter.

A Mount in San Luis Reservoir 1

When I saw this, I knew it's a special scene. The mount rose from the vast, dried up field that was the bed of a big body of water, with wild grass aligned themselves with the water marks that created layers on the mount. The symmetric nature of it may throw some people off, but overall I think it's good looking enough.

Similar to San Luis Reservoir 1c, but shot with Ilford Pan F Plus (film). The water bed was all dried up in Summer.

Like Dried Up San Luis Reservoir 8, I think with yellow-green filter (X0), the tonality would be better instead of orange filter. At least this one turned out okay, not terrible.

Found this piece of rock, which the strong light really brought out the nice texture. Hanheld at a very low angle. Used highlight spot meter in my Olympus OM 4T for correct exposure.

Like how the weeds aligned themselves like that. Some smelled like mints, and some smelled just nasty.

Isn't that cool? Just a few steps ahead of where I shot Dried Up San Luis Reservoir 9, I found this herd of deers just behind the zig zag of hills. I would never suspect it if I were just driving by on the highway. Anyways, I originally shot 1a, then I decided to do another shot of this just to be safe. I think I stood a little closer to eliminate a few weeds in the front. Orange filter. Zuiko 135mm f/2.8. The deers were alert of my presence. I wonder what they think about those windmills.
