Fire and Water

The setting sun reflected in the water of a creek. There's a bit of a hill on each side of the creek so the failing light makes the trees and ground cover bordering the water rather dark. The sky is on fire and it's reflected in the water. The Great Blue Heron wading near the edge was a bonus.

Bayview Bridge

If you've been following my photography then you may know that our bridge here in town is a subject used often. Especially at sunset it can produce a lovely image. Last night I was down by the riverfront and once again found myself pointing my camera in it's direction.

Sunset over Hannibal

This shot was taken at sunset from the east side of the Mississippi River looking west towards Hannibal, Missouri. The town can't be seen in the silhouette but trust me.. it's there. :)

Golden Light

While photographing the sunset a few weeks ago there was quite a bit of activity on the river. This boater happened to move through a reflection of the setting sun and I thought it might make a nice shot.

Barn at Sunset

This past Friday I was traveling down a gravel road southeast of town when I noticed this barn. I really liked how the colors of the sunset could be seen through the structure so I stopped for a picture. Might make a neat Halloween picture.

Mississippi River Sunset

I was driving down the river road this evening looking for something to photograph. I had already taken numerous sunset pictures but as I passed South Side Boat Club I saw this. Ok .. so I took a few more sunset pictures. :)

Fading Light

The day I shot this was a day that produced a couple of great images of our Bayview Bridge and I've received some great feedback about them. There were a few images that I hadn't even looked at so I went back today, picked one, and processed it. That basically consisted of converting it to jpeg from RAW. It needed little else. I really like how it turned out. I hope the sky repeats itself soon. That day was awesome.

Togetherness

I've been wanting to get a shot like this but they're a bit hard to find in the winter. After a couple days of rain, the sun came out today and the temperature was high enough to bring people out.

I found these two cuddlers watching the gulls along the Mississippi River just below Lock and Dam 21.

I found this tree late this afternoon (obviously at sunset) at a rural intersection. Traffic was rather busy but when I saw this tree I knew I had to get a shot of it. I found it quite unique.
