Our herd is a mixed breed herd with a number of different dairy goat breeds. Their milk differs in their components. Some have higher milk fats, some have higher quantity.

Here are just two of the kids..there's about 30 now.. They all scream for me as soon as they hear me in the barn. They even recognize my footsteps..stealth mode is impossible!

These girls are part of milking group #1. They are our younger set and have settled in nicely. They have great dispositions...curious, funny and into everything :)

Sorry for the poor quality photo. I was on manual focus because I've managed to screw up the autofocus drive on this lens...grr..

Anyhow, this just one of a number of giant vents that are being placed in the ceiling structure of the barn. The barn is 75 feet by 200 feet. The ceiling is going to be covered in a white plastic liner, the attic will be insulated, the vents will be installed, and fluorescent light fixtures will also be added. The barn structure has been divided into two pieces by means of a dividing wall. The sheep are now located in the back of the barn. I will grab photos of their area. The front area of the barn is being prepared for the arrival of the other surprise beasts.. We are waiting on the materials for the animals pens/feeders. We just received partial shipment this evening. It's going to be crazy busy for the next 10 days.

In the meantime, the Mennonites continue their construction. They are finishing the entire ceiling in the structure. It will be a white plastic and the new attic area will be filled with insulation to keep the big barn warmer in the winter.

Okay, I'll spill a few more details. This is a milking parlour. Around the beginning of June, Harald and I will be spending a number of hours here twice a day to milk.. I'm just not telling what until they get here.. grin

The Milking Parlour is almost set up. It is located in the former vet clinic area of the bank barn. It is fully lined with heated cement floors. Harald and I will be standing in the middle of this contraption twice a day..

Harald lending a helping hand to the guys at Conestogo Dairy Supply, Ltd. who are responsible for setting up the milking house and parlour. We have 3 separate trades teams at the barns and it's crazy, but really great peeps make it easier and fun. Okay, so the mess is driving me bonkers..aaahahahahaha

I've wondered all along if the peacock was attracted to our barn by the sound of the chickens inside. Well, we moved the chickens to their new shed--located at the side of our house in a small fenced area--early last week and look who is flying in and hanging out with the chickens.. UNBELIEVABLE!

FYI: We are not holding the peacock captive! The fence is about 4 1/2 feet high and open to the sky. It encloses the chicken coop with a bit of yard for them to get exercise. We put the chickens in the shed for safety at night, but not the peacock.
