African Violet Babies

Back in April (2008), one of my Brother's African Violet's leaf broke off, so I saved it and thought I would try to see if it roots. I really didn't think it would grow and neglected to even take care of it... then a couple weeks ago I was so surprise to see that it formed four baby plants. Dang!

Hibiscus Cutting

I got this Hibiscus cutting from my nephew's girlfriend (thanks Kriselda).

I soaked it for a bit because it looked so dry and I didn't think it would grow... but I see what I think are little growth along the stem.

There are no instructions on the package and I don't know what direction to plant it. One end has wax and the other is just bare. I think the wax side it up, but I'm not sure.

Anyone know what I should do?

I wanted to plant more Spearmint, so I took some cuttings to root. I noticed that some tips were fused together with a web and saw some of these caterpillars.

Anyone know what type of caterpillar this is... and if they are bad for the plant?

I found another African Violet leaf that was going to be swept away. This one has white flowers, with a center red spot on the three bottom petals.

Each cutting with be rooted in the Super Peat Pellets placed in the NatureWorks PLA 9 oz. drinking cups with a lid and plant label.

I hope this setup works.

This is usually how I take a Coleus cutting. I then drip the bottom into rooting hormone (shaking off the excess) and place it into a peat pellet.

I took a cutting of the mystery flower in a bouquet that my Mom received, applied some rooting hormone and potted it up. I don't know if it will root, but I hope it does...

Yesterday, I found the leaf broken of an African Violet at a local retailer. Knowing me, I took it to see if I can save it.

The flower on the plant was single white ruffled edges with a purple center.

On Thursday, my friend Darwin came by my work and we went out for lunch. We got some Vietnamese Spring Rolls and it came with some sprigs of Mint, which I kept and will try to root.

Found Petunia Cutting

I found this poor broken Petunia branch on the floor of a home improvement store. It was stepped on and wilted and I figured it wouldn't live, but I still had the urge to try to save it.

I placed it in some water and a couple days later, it looks as good as new.

I'm not sure if Petunias grow from cuttings, but I recently learned that they are in the Solanaceae like Tomatoes, Peppers, etc... so it probably will.

My coworker Tausha took a photo of my with one of my Coleus cuttings.

I normally don't root my Coleus in water, but another coworker of mine gave me a large Coleus cutting and I didn't use all of it. I didn't want to throw away the bottom piece, so I placed in in this hyacinth vase. I already have a rooted cutting in soil, so I may keep as an office plant
