How about a machine that can dust your violin? Part of an exhibit at the MIT Museum in Cambridge. A series of pulleys and cranks move the feather duster up and down the instrument.

I love wandering around the MIT campus. They have the most bizarre buildings with odd shapes and angles. This is a shot of Simmons Hall on Vassar Street across from the Rugby field. It was an almost perfect day without a cloud in the sky. I wanted to frame the shot through the awning of the front door and get a good contrast between the blue sky, bright building, and the darker underside of the canopy.

One of the first photos I ever took with my Sony SLT-A55v. We decided to go on a road trip in early March. It was a cold dreary day on the North Shore of Massachusetts. We stumbled on the all rock vacant beach. Oh, did I mention it was early March? It was a cold and desolate location.

Walking a little yellow chair on a stone. Came across this little world at the MIT Museum in Cambridge. A very interesting exhibit on 'Gestural Engineering.' The sculptor creates little machines with levers, pulleys, gears, and cranks that move the smallest items... In this case, a miniature yellow chair.

This is one of the first shots I ever took with my Sony A55. We were out exploring the North Shore of Massachusetts and found this really rocky beach. Oh, did I mention it was early March? It was a cold and desolate location. The only thing I modified with this photo is the vignette. I took this with a wide open aperture and a wide angle lens fairly close up.

Gears in a row. With each successive gear, by the time you get to the last gear it will will take about 13.7 billion years to make one turn. The same time as the estimated lifespan of our universe. Museum shots are always tricky, low lighting and odd white balance, I set the aperture wide open and slowed down the shutter speed. Notice how the first couple gears are moving so fast they are blurred, but by the time you get to the fourth its slowed and in focus?

The creepy things you find sometimes. Found this as part of a 'Gestural Engineering' exhibit at the MIT Museum in Cambridge. The sculptor makes large machines with all sorts of pulleys, gears, springs, cranks, and levers which work together to move bizarre things. In this case, the severed head of a doll.

Doesn't this old tree stump look like a pig? Found this on a hike in Dover, MA in the Noanet Woodlands.
