Timing is everything!! Pritchard Road, Maple Park, Illinois after a recent storm. The next shot is the other end of the rainbow in the southeast and the last one is the same scene above but bigger picture. The color is even more intense for some reason and it became a bit deformed and I don't know why that is either but it did become a double rainbow.

This 68 foot, 5 story structure sits on the east side of Fabyan Forest Preserve, on Route 25 in Batavia, Illinois. It is a working windmill and you can learn how it operates by taking a tour during weekends from 1-4 p.m., May 15 – October 15.

I'm standing at the RR crossing looking south at Pritchard Road in Maple Park amazed by all the beauty that came after a brief thunderstorm passed through. The sunset is lighting up the backside of the storm clouds so beautifully! If you look close, you can see the base of the rainbow that stretched from all the way down there to all the way up here behind me.

Pritchard Road ~ Maple Park, Illinois, looking southeast as a coal train passes by into the storms we just drove out of. Incredible view with amazing light from the setting sun! The shot below is the engine on the back end pushing the train east.

And to think I went all the way to Alaska to see eagles, of which I only saw ONE and it was a fly by and all I got was a blurry shot and here is one less than 50 miles west of my house!! Aside from this one and the blurry one in Alaska, I've only seen one other eagle in my life. Thanks Duane for spotting this guy while we were out searching for sunset locations and sorry for spooking him away just 'cuz I had to get 10 feet closer. But come to think of it, he flew off when you moved 10 feet closer.......lol.

Breathing Life Into The Depot

This depot located in Wayne, Illinois is currently ungoing renovations. Usually, it is dark with no sign of life when you go past it at night. But thanks to one of the Wayne Board members, we had light and were able to capture a rare moment at this location. I shot this just after a freight rolled through. You can see the red F.R.E.D. light off in the distance down the tracks.

The clouds were incredible for this photo shoot. The moon is nearly full and is just off to the upper left of this scene offering up some incredible lighting as well.

Below is a shot of the train as it was coming through and below that is a shot I took several weeks ago with no lights on inside the depot. What an amazing difference it makes to have "life" inside this historic building.

Thank you Duane for arranging this to happen and thank you also to Mark Llanuza for knowing the right people allowing Duane to make this happen.
