My first attempt at catching lightning strikes was last last night. The first wave rolled through around 8:30 and lasted until a little after 9pm. I got no keepers from round One! Which was a shame, there was some really nice color in the sky and cloud formations during that twilight period, but, none of the lightning strikes showed up in the images. I did learn a lot in that short amount of time though...so that's a good thing. Learning's cool.

I was heading off to bed around 11:30 when I saw the lightning reflecting off the walls inside my home...so I sprinted outside to try it all over again. This was...afterall...a two round bout. I was lucky enough to get 7 images out of 13 with some strikes in the frame. Funny thing though...during the exposure of all 13 shots, there were tons of lightning strikes...they just didn't show up. The lightning was so intense during this storm that it just lit up the clouds so bright that you couldn't see the strikes in the final exposure. I do feel more ready for the next chance I get....

Amazingly different color in just 15 minutes of lapsed time, compared to the previous shot. This was taken right around midnight.
