Granpa Angelo was a very young soldier when he was captured by the nazist soldiers in Livorno and brought in a concentration camp in Germany where he worked like a prisoner for two years.
I met him at the Easter lunch I spent with my housekeeper and friend Giusy and her family.
Now he's 94 years old, and all his family treats him with a lot of love and affection but like a child!
He's so clear-headed...I felt sad for him when I saw that everybody was talking about him like a newborn baby, who can not understand they are talking about him...I spent a lot listening to his stories, and he has got also a great sense of humor.
We should listen to this old people and their experiences, we should write what they tell us. To do not forget.

I'm watching the news on tv. It's very depressing: in some many places in the world while I'm writing,there are so many innocent people -especially children- suffering. I think we can't simply watch somewhere else. I feel I'm responsible too. Our freedom is not a real freedom until we won't share it with every human being in this world.
