Something typical from here: Seagulls. Sometimes we have them flying right in front of our living room window, making a show for Lumi, our cat. This one was flying in the real sea wind of Westerheversand, at the German west coast.

I love the painterly effect that the textures are giving here.

I definitely have something going with that sheep in the snow thing… maybe because they are one of the few animals left to photograph in these hostile conditions. These ones needed some warmth and came together in one corner of their field. Photo taken mid December close to Husum.

I was experimenting one morning with creating soft light by putting a white bed sheet in one door frame and shooting one or two flashes though it.

While my “model” was not that much happy with those efforts, Lumi was all the more interested. She was all the time changing from behind and in front of the “curtain”, trying to pull it a bit and looking for holes to crawl through it. But still she was not totally sure all was okay with me – why was I covering the door frame with canvas? That was what I see in her face here.

Okay, this snake is not real… anymore, at least. This snake skin was brought back to “life” in the natural museum in Flensburg. I liked the contrast of the greenish/blueish background made by florescent lights and the warm foreground created by tungsten lamps. This snake is behind glass – I guess camera and lens made a good job getting this sharp! And those eyes…

I could capture this huge herring gull on a recent canoe trip. I just had time for two quick snaps, and this one came out pretty decent!

This beautiful Blue Idas (I guess) was the perfect photo model. It sat still all the time while I was taking photos. Only after I was done and we checked if it really was alive it flew away some meters.

The photograph was taken in the protected area around the Treßsee in northern Schleswig-Holstein.

This Common Blue Damselfly (Enallagma cyathigerum) is the first Flickr model for my new camera. I got a used Pentax K20D in excellent condition, after my K100D fell down some months ago, which killed the exposure meter.
