5 pics from today with different moods, colors, and lights. This year, the Magha Puja happens on February 25 as it's the 3rd full moon of the year. I was here last year and today I came back again to photograph exactly where I stood a year ago with different equipments & a year more experience. I hope you enjoy the pictures. It's one of the most beautiful sights and a haven for me, a photographer, to find my peace.

Māgha Pūjā day marks the four auspicious occasions, which happened nine months after the Enlightenment of the Buddha at Veḷuvana Bamboo Grove, near Rājagaha in Northern India. On that occasion, as recorded in the commentary to the Mahāsamayasutta, DN-Comm 20) four marvellous events occurred:

There were 1,250 Arahata, that came to see the Buddha that evening without any schedule.
All of them were Arhantas, the Enlightened One, and all of them were ordained by the Buddha himself.
The Buddha gave those Arhantas principles of the Buddhism, called "The ovadhapatimokha". Those principles are: - To cease from all evil,- To do what is good,- To cleanse one's mind;
it was the full-moon day.

The Buddha gave an important teaching to the assembled monks on that day 2,500 years ago called the 'Ovādapātimokha'[1] which laid down the principles of the Buddhist teachings. In Thailand, this teaching has been dubbed the 'Heart of Buddhism'.

A group of young novice monks were celebrating Loy Kratong Festival with their arsenal of fireworks and firecrackers. It was such a beautiful moment and I had so much fun and thrill capturing their photos. It was dangerous staying near them as they threw firecrackers everywhere.

The temple is often referred to as "Doi Suthep" although this is actually the name of the mountain it is located on. The temple is located 15 km from the city of Chiang Mai and is a sacred site to many Thai people. A monk was spraying blessed water to a faithful family.

Although the term holy water is not used, the idea of "blessed water" is used among Buddhists. Water is put in to a new pot and kept near a Paritrana ceremony, a blessing for protection. Thai 'Lustral water' can be created in a ceremony in which the burning and extinction of a candle above the water represents the elements of earth, fire, and air.[28] This water is later given to the people to be kept in their home. Not only water but also oil and strings are blessed in this ceremony.
