This is a Milbert's Tortoiseshell. Many thanks to Roger B. and juicyred for the ID.

This butterfly has about a 2" wing span.
I would love to know it's name. It must be common or I wouldn't have seen it. Lol

Actually this one wasn't so elusive. He's the first one I saw and he sat there for a few moments. He's sitting on some Boneset flowers.
