Rough seas at Whitby Harbour

I came back from a 4 day stay in Whitby yesterday. I've been going there with my family every year for as long as I can remember and it's probably my favourite place in the UK.

This was taken on the morning before I left for home where I'd got up at 6 in the morning just to get some last photos before I went home. The sea had been pretty calm every other day so I was quite excited when I got to the harbour and found some quite rough seas.

I literally stood in this same spot for 45 minutes waiting for the perfect wave to hit the pier.

The clouds in the bottom left are a little distracting but apart from that I quite liked this one.

I've decided I'm going to actually start saving up for a 5D Mark II now. I'll be 18 in June so hopefully I'll get a bit of money then and one of my photos could possibly get shortlisted in the photographer of the year competition which will mean a £200 Jessops voucher if it does.

Waterstones, Birmingham - Panorama

I've been meaning to get this shot for a while and today I finally remembered to bring my camera with me to town.

This panorama is made up of 4 separate shots stitched together using PTGui. I edited each of the shots in Adobe Lightroom 3.6, making some minor adjustments to the exposure and constrast and converting it to B&W.

I went to Dudley Zoo yesterday with my girlfriend to get some photos. The weather wasn't too good in the morning so there weren't many people there which is always a good thing. It got sunny quite quickly after the rain though and I got quite a few photos.
