This is the bag in which I keep my art supplies in the car. That way I am never without them. It is a leather bag and is light weight enough to carry in my hand while my purse is on my shoulder. I had to salvage it by going digital with the background. It does not bare the close scrutiny that the large (tooooo large) new view gives to horizontal pictures. I hate that we cannot control the size in the new Flickr....ridiculous! So I turned it to a vertical position so it would not be so huge. They left the sketchers out when they designed this new layout....And gave all of the options to the viewer. A sketch doesn't need a microscope....and pictures don't either....Flickr has really missed the boat on these changes.

I laugh every time I think of an emu. Besides being a very odd looking bird, I remember how many people there were in our area who fell for the "emu farming" concept about 25 years ago. They were never able to convince the area to even try to cultivate a taste for anything they could offer. There may be some still wandering out in the woods, as there were rumors of "those that got away." Sorry, but it makes me laugh!

Summer in the south means fishing to lots and lots of folks. I remember when hubby would get up at 4 in the morning to drive to the river to fish. The boats are larger and more powerful now, but it is still a summer joy to most guys and lots of gals.

Have no idea why this particular lake came to mind, other than I pass it when I drive to Greenville on the way to see my friend, Grace. The highway curves around it, but I break off from it before getting to the state park. I cross the bridge into my birth state of Mississippi on a beautiful new bridge just opened last year. They have removed the old bridge which opened when I was in third grade. Just think. I have outlasted a bridge across the Mississippi River!!

The sadness of Oklahoma and the rain we have had this week, plus the many prayers I have said and heard this week, led me to imagine tears falling into Gods bottle of remembrance.

I don't purchase many clothes, but with every season change I start wanting a new blouse or jacket to perk up my ancient wardrobe.
Am I the only one who dislikes the new format of Flickr? I HATE seeing all of the pictures and no information when you open the page....and I always referred to the profiles when someone commented on my page. Where are the profiles now? Disappeared! Oh, well, I'm just old and don't like change.

I know this isn't what was meant, but I'm bending the assignment. It was far too pretty outside ( though very warm) to sit in the garage and draw the only thing I could think of that belongs to someone else. So I drove to Smackover where two of my favorite antique stores are located, and sat in the car to draw this. Nothing in the store belongs to me...though I would happily accept most of it...in fact the entire store is something that belongs to someone else, So can I get a pass on this one?

On the left, drawn on dark green scrapbooking paper with a white jel pen. On the right drawn digitally on Art Rage on my iPad. I felt like a monkey looking at my hand while drawing them (it?)...and thought of the scripture about the left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing! Fun again. What do "lefties" do with an assignment like this?

I have a first aid drawer, not a kit, and just grabbed some things from it: a thermometer, band aids, antibiotic cream, and some liquid bandage stuff. I really messed the background up on this one...very muddy. Hope not to need any of these things any time soon!

Reworked watercolor

Was never quite satisfied with the flatness of the watercolor I did back in September 2012, so decided to add a few darks and rework some of the flowers. I don't know that anyone other than me will be able to see what I did, but I like it better now, and after all, that is really what matters, right? I think I probably have lots of old watercolors filed away that really only need a second look and some color adjustments. Now that I have played with this one, I think it will be easier for me to rework some others...

I thought quite awhile about this, and snakes were the only tangible thing I could think of. Of course, since I have drawn this, I would have to include tornadoes and floods, etc. But actually a snake kept coming to mind. I chose this one because they are in Arkansas, and are colorful. Then I realized that they are not harmful, but most will agree that they would make you hurt yourself getting away from them! I am happy to know that my enmity toward them was God ordained...;>D

I am old enough to remember when ice house ice was in wooden ice boxes and you had to use an ice pick to break up the big blocks of ice. These little buckets were used to hold the ice so that one could make small pieces to put into a glass. I have used mine to hold pecans and other nuts as I crack and pick out the meats. It was usually made of cedar, thus explaining the lights and darks in the wood and the reddish tint.

I don't have a favorite, but back when I painted 25 years ago we searched the area for a pencil that would disappear when we drew for our large watercolors. The drug store pencil drawn here was great for that. The ebony pencil is what Hannah and I used for lessons. I even found an eraser pencil that I didn't know I had! Interesting.

My hubby was a birdwatcher, and I remember the first time he saw a roadrunner in our state. He was so excited because the fame of the bird had been spread by the roadrunner in the cartoons at the movies. (beep beep) When I found this one I bought it for him. It remains by my bedside, so it was my obvious choice . I think it is probably a paperweight, but we'll call it a figurine, for now.

Son was disappointed that candy didn't arrive with these as ordered, but they were lovely enough without the added indulgence. This style painting is a bit too color book looking for me, but I did enjoy doing the drawing part of it. Still lots of beauty left even after almost a week, since they arrived last Wednesday. Thank you, elder son, and thank you, D and K for the lovely supper and the check for art supplies. Whee!

Between Dr. visits ( both ok, by the way...tomorrow is the scariest one), I ate lunch with my kids and sketched this as I waited in the car. I kinda like it...feel more sure of my lines than I used to, and sort of measure my progress by leaving these without color.

These are usually on the single bed in my computer room...but I brought them into the den to draw and have decided I want them in here for the summer. They certainly perk things up! Of course I won't leave them all in the chair....I have two Doctor appointments tomorrow so tried to get ahead on my assignment...

This was a weird way to spend Mother's Day afternoon! I found some old stuff that was dated in January 2013, so it wasn't really old, old. But the most puzzling thing I found was a little prescription plastic box, empty, that was dated 1980 and had keep in refrigerator on the tag. How on earth it has been tossed around in the door I have no idea. The drug store has been closed forever! Why would I do that? Or did someone find it and put it there, like Faerie Dancer's faerie?
