I love the sea when it's like this, it has character. Whizzed up to Clevedon last evening as it was poring with rain in Weston-super-Mare, yet 10 miles up the coast it was a lovely sunset & a high water combo....my favorite!

Nornen in Blue

When I visited this place some weeks ago the blue of the sky was so intense that it managed to make the muddy Bristol Channel look lovely.
This is part of the SS Nornen wreck which usually attracts lots of tripods, but not on this evening.

There is nothing much to look at in the North Atlantic, the sea is surprisingly black, but the skies were amazing. I'm not really sure where the exact location is of this shot but I was on a boat heading south to the Med.

This location is always a great place to go with friends for a shoot. There were quite a few tripods out for this sunset.
Sandunes are very untidy places, the grasses & the prickly bushes are never quite where you want them to be!

Have been away with the Girls on a photo shoot W/E to Exmoor. Weather? mostly dreadful but with about 6 bottles of wine we were ok :)
This is Saunton Sands, North Devon. All sorts to shoot there from the surf, surfers, rock pools & the dunes. All in all a fun w/e.
I'm off on holiday shortly for a couple of wks, catch up next month.

Back to one of my favorite places last evening. I love it when the waves are washing over the Causeway like this, topping up the Marine Lake. Not too rough, not too calm, a bit of sky too and wellies needed.

There are only a few days a year when the sun sets in this location, between Brean Down (on the left) & Steep Holm Island on the right, so had to go back for a second go....I just can't resist. It's been a fantastic week here for sunsets...we've had a fab sunset every day since Sunday. It's been a bit like waiting for a bus, you wait ages for one, then they all come along at once. But as for the below zero wind chill..that's something else!

Well March went out with a bang yesterday with a cold but sunny day here in Somerset. I hope everyone had a lovely Easter Day which was finished off by this, which made my day!

I was lucky to go to this wreck today under perfect weather conditions. It's really great to be able to say something positive about the state of the weather.
This is the wreck of the SS Nornen at Berrow Beach which is a popular spot for tripods, but nobody there today.

I popped back to Burnham for a late afternoon shoot, there was not a cloud in the sky, but at least it was better than the flat greyness we have all had.

This is the old boating lake on Weston Beach, I can remember playing in this lake as a child, zillions of years ago...best not go paddling in it now, not even with my wellies on.

This is the end of the Victorian Pier in Swanage, Dorset. I went there a few weeks ago while visiting friends for a few days.
Slightly reminiscent of Clevedon Pier in Somerset. There were quite a few people wandering around but I took a chance that a long exposure would lose them.

You can see the wind whipping across the shallow pools here, but with the promise of a great sky & sunset, I forced myself out in to the bitter cold. I need to get some welly boot socks...had very cold toes, & I'm off to find another view! ( Although similar, the last 3 shots are taken on different days over the last week)

You know when you've packed up your camera & tripod, you're walking back to the car, then you turn round to take one last look at where you have been & then you see this.....Had to get everything out all over again!
This is the old boating lake on the beach at Weston, I don't think it's used much now. It did have some 'Art' installed in it for a while but it looked like a load of junk had been thrown in to it.

I don't pay Weston mud a visit very often as I tend to get bogged down in it, & this shoot was no exception. Stopped here for a few minutes while travelling back to Somerset over Dartmoor on a lovely sunny day after visiting my son, who is at Plymouth University, for his 21st Birthday. I took the party to him which included 40 litres of Thatchers cider for him & all his mates to drink, loads of party food as well as a giant caterpillar cake from M&S. Students really know how to enjoy themselves!

I have seen lots of shots of this view, & could never quite remember where it was. It was totally by chance that I parked by the Pier in Swanage & went for a bit of a wander. Well I nearly fell over my tripod when I saw this view. I was very happy to have walked that way.

Having never visited this area before, I didn't quite know what to expect other than having seen lots of shots on Flickr. The tide was in, it had been raining & the sky was that delicate shade of consistent grey that we all know & hate. But at least I had the place all to myself, which I think might be unusual.
Really enjoyed it & I look forward to a return visit at the earliest opportunity!

Really nice to go some where away from the seaside in Weston for an hour or two. I think I've only been here once before, & that was when it was cold, wet & blowing a gale. It was nice that the weather held for everyone to get out to get some shots after some very dismal days.
