A couple of my favorites...

Yellow is one of my favorite colors, so I love that black and yellow number. The polka dots blouse and striped skirt are so quirky.

And that graphic purple top with the casual red kulottes and yellow socks is just so fun. It has a confident charm about it. And it's perfect for a stylishly lazy day!

These fashions were also sold for the large soft-bodied fashion dolls.

Chelsea is the Hot Looks doll I had as a child. Not sure what I was thinking when I let my mom give her away to good will or a yard sale - I was probably in my teens at that point and thought "Oh, how embarrassing to keep this oversized doll around!" But she was in pristine condition - and one of her earrings turned up years later. I still have it somewhere.

If you know where I can find Chelsea NRFB for a good price, please let me know!

After 24 years, I'm catching up with my old friend Chelsea. She's the one I had as a kid. She arrived in the mail today. NRFB. Same crimped hair. Same triangle earrings. Same freckles. Same striped shirt. Same British accent. The only thing that isn't the same is me. But she doesn't seem to mind.

I guess this means I'll have to get Elkie now too, since she's the only one left of the original set I don't have. Sigh.

The black and white party dress is really cool. Makes me want to get in the groove to Madonna's "Lucky Star."

I like the image of the woman on the pink top, wearing her oversized blackout sunglasses. There's a pair of sunglasses for the paper dolls, too. They each have a slit on top of their heads, so the sunglasses would sit in their hair rather than over their eyes.

My mom was so excited when I showed her this set. "Paper dolls!?" she proclaimed. "Oh, I used to love playing with paper dolls!!" I love them too. And I love my mom. :-)

...how "hot" the '80s got? I didn't even realize these were made until I came across this wonderfully preserved set of Hot Looks paper dolls the other night on Etsy.

In 1988, this set apparently cost $1.49. In 2011, it costs 7 bucks + shipping. ^.~*

Stacy and Mimi's names are mistakenly switched around on the paper dolls! Plus, Stacy's name is spelled Stacey on the poseable doll's box.

I love that the paper doll artwork keeps their hands in that quirky 1-3-1 finger configuration, just like the large poseable dolls!

For some reason, Elkie wasn't included - but the fashion the real doll comes in is!
