One, Two, Three, Test... Test...
I wanted to test the upload... what do you think, of the new flickr look? I was pretty impressed this morning about the change. Much better! But there are some minor things, that would make it even better.
1. I would like to find the number of views near the favs and comments in the black bar under the pictures.
2. I really liked the EXIF bar, that showed the most important data while the past weeks.
3. the info about the location is pretty hidden.
4. it seems a bit slow

This is the German U995 from WW2, which is a museum nowadays.

Tripods are not tolerated. I wnet into the booth to buy tickets. That guy said "You must not take pictures with a tripod and I will walk behind you and watch it!". Well, finally, I left the tripod there and that guy didn't watch me. So all pictures in the sub are freehand or supported by whatever was available. ISO1600 is not much fun with a D70.

My stinky cheese has been explored :-))))

The Weather Was Good, Time For Garden Cheese (Explored)

This cheese is a bit aromatic, so I usually eat it outside the house. I am not so much into stinky cheese, but I have a Miesbacher habit. It tastes much better, than it smells. And finally, it is only garden cheese and not "outside the city limits cheese". It is nice and creamy and great with fresh bread. So, when I go shopping with my wife on Saturdays, it is hard to pass the diary products without buying one. Miesbacher is some sort of Remoudou.

Remoudou, or in wallon r'moûdou, is a Belgian cheese from the Land of Herve. It derives its name from the use of milk removed 15 minutes after the usual milking. Hence the wallon verb rimoûd meaning to re-milk. When the cheese is washed with salt it gets a strong taste, and when it is washed with milk it keeps a mild taste.

It used to be called angelot and was offered as a gift. Sometimes called Fromage de Herve (cheese of Herve), is was stored fresh by Belgian merchants and sold in distant lands. Remoudou was present at the Liepzig and Frankfurt fairs in the 17th century, where it was traded by Herve men for Holstein cattle, and in Lorraine where the Herve merchants where called haverlings.

Yeah... I actually wanted to take only meaningful pictures with the new D90, but... the light was good for photography, but the weather was too wet for the photographer. So it is a picture of my dinner.

Nasi Goreng (do not confuse it with Nazi Göring) is one of my all time favorites and I was really young, when I leaned to cook it (my way).

You need to cook a chicken soup with a nice chicken. Take the chicken and separate the meat from the bones. Cook some rice with some chicken soup. Add Turmeric for a nice yellow color. Let the rice get a bit more dry over night.

Dice an onion and fry it in some oil until it gets golden brown. Add the chicken and some diced garlic. Stirfry, add sweet soy sauce (sambal manis), some Worchester sauce (that is not really original), cumin, ground coriander seed, ginger powder and a bit of pimenta (allspice). Stir more. Add some sambal olek (chili paste). I like some more, the family likes a bit less, so I spice it up later.

I serve it with fried bananas and top it with strips of omlett and pickled cucumber and crispy roasted onions.

Today ebay has delivered my new Nikon D90. The camera has every feature I ever wanted. So cool! I got pretty tired of my D70 cameras. One body only worked with the wide angle lenses and I have to re-insert the CF cards sometimes, because the connector seems to be not reliable anymore. It has an image counter of about 6000 and I have bought it for 330€. I am really looking forward to use it and to push my limits. When I was using the D70, I thought, I will not get a newer camera until I know all features. While the past year, I knew everything by heart, maybe except some flash options, because I never really practiced to use a flash light.

This is either pinova or topaz. There are two kinds of apples on this tree. This is required so that it can pollinate each other. If you ahve an apple tree with one sort, it might be possible, that you will not get any fruits, because there is no suitable other tree around. That is, what the garden center lady told me.

Our cherry tree has kind of purple blossoms and produces fruits, that are not edible. Not any bad, if you want to shoot the cherries at somebpdy, though. I will not tell my son.

This kind of Fuchsia in our garden has very nice colors, I think. I have seen different sorts with different colors in the garden center today.

Before I got married, I was happy, that I could distinguish a cactus from a cauliflower. After two months, I could pronounce "Phalaenopsis" and now, I even know Fuchsiae :-)))

Fuchsia (pron.: /ˈfjuːʃə/ FEW-shə) is a genus of flowering plants that consists mostly of shrubs or small trees. The first, Fuchsia triphylla, was discovered on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola (present day Dominican Republic and Haiti) in about 1696-1697 by the French Minim monk and botanist, Charles Plumier during his third expedition to the Greater Antilles. He named the new genus after the renowned German botanist Leonhart Fuchs (1501–1566).

The Insect Hotel

A place to stay for the useful insects in our garden. In return they help us keeping away the other insects (like aphids) from our plants. I have built it from a wooden box for transporting wine. There is a brick with many holes and a wood log with many holes of different sizes, that I have installed in there, I have also filled straw, wood wool, reed and thin branches in it. The whole thing is topped with a roof tile. It resides in a sunny place near our terrace.

First, the mason bees moved in. I have also found traces of life under the roof tile (which I can still remove). I didn't see the rest of it, since it is not easy to disassemble and I also don't want to disturb anybody.

Bellis perennis is a common European species of daisy, of the Asteraceae family, often considered the archetypal species of that name. Many related plants also share the name "daisy", so to distinguish this species from other daisies it is sometimes qualified as common daisy, lawn daisy or English daisy. Historically, it has also been commonly known as bruisewort and occasionally woundwort (although the common name woundwort is now more closely associated with Stachys (Betony)). Bellis perennis is native to western, central and northern Europe, but widely naturalised in most temperate regions including the Americas and Australasia.

Today, I had two BBQs. The old one served us well (and often) for almost 10 years, but finally, there was a hole in the burner and we had to get a new one. First I was considering to buy a spare part, but then I had an old BBQ with an expensive spare part, waiting for the next thing to break. My son and I assembled it today and we hd two almost identical BBQs. Worth a snap... no art, but a nice souvenir.Tomorrow, the old BBQ has to go.

Well... actually, this is not so much about the beer, although it looks like that and the title of the picture is confusing, too. Actually, this is about the green skirts.

I have applied the tone compressor on this picture and the colors of the skirts and the beer turned out quite nice, I think.

Erecting the maypole in Götting... like always, it is important, that somebody has the overview and coordinates the doing. This guy has built the roof on our garage, too. Good to have an expert :-)

This picture is slightly tonemapped with Photomatix Pro using the plug-in from Lightroom.
