This morning I spent some time listening to inspirational music and speeches, including one by Martin Luther King Jr. It inspired this image, using a photo of his childhood home that I took last month in Atlanta.

The next image in my summer reading series with my amazing friend, Vanessa Powell. We're taking turns choosing quotes from our favourite children's stories and this week I chose this quote from "The Lorax":

'“I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees. I speak for the trees for the trees have no tongues.”

The lorax has always been one of my favourite stories and I feel a particular connection to it as I'm quite passionate about my favourite forest of trees and have done my share of protesting and protection of the trees that I love.

I'm very excited to announce a new summerlong collaboration project with a favourite photographer of mine, Vanessa Powell.

We will be doing a series of photos inspired by quotes from our favourite children's books. Vanessa picked this quote from The Velveteen Rabbit and it inspired me to create an image of what it would like to have your favourite things turn to life!

Very cool and very real! Two nights ago I found out that this weekend was going to be high Aurora activity and so, at 2:30 in the morning I set out to capture it and I'm so glad I did. I've never seen them so bright and so clear.

This is inspired largely by that feeling you get when your life is about to totally change and you're not quite sure how to process it all.

My life is in the midst of changes, almost all good but some are difficult transitions and it's not as easy for my brain to get through it all as easily as I'd like it to.

This was taken back in December during my trip to L.A.

We went to this old zoo and after exploring some of the tiny enclosures and cages all I could think about were concepts based on escaping. We tend to lock so many things away (thoughts, animals, memories) and I think the world might just be a better place if we allowed these things to live freely.

This is inspired by the path my life seems to be taking all of a sudden.

About a month ago I was feeling very lost, frustrated and that I didn't really know where my life was going. Only a few weeks later and I feel like my life is not only being rebuilt but it's being rebuilt even better than I thought it ever could!
