The Johanniter Order (Lutheran) acquired this building in the late 1800s and is still open to pilgrims as a guesthouse. It stands next to the 8th station on the Via Dolorosa in the Old City, Jerusalem.

Seen in the Christian Quarter, Old City, Jerusalem. The empty chair seems symbolic of the plight of those Palestinians who want peace but are caught in the middle of this complex situation.

10 miles from Jericho is Qumran (two moons in Arabic), where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered by Bedouin shepherds in 1947. The scrolls are believed to be written by a Jewish sect known as the Essenes. The scrolls, written between 200BC and 70AD contain the earliest copies of the Bible (Old Testament).

More commonly known as the Mount of Tempation, Quarantania means "40" in Latin. A cable car takes visitors up to the top where there is a Greek Orthodox monastary with a view of the surrounding valley.

Dome of the Rock, completed around 690AD, on the compound known as Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Non-Muslim visitors have a small window to walk around this incredible building.

His friend/brother joins him and the antics are in full swing for my camera they have now noticed. In the background, 2 Orthodox priests walk by the mosque. Behind me is a store owned by a Greek Orthodox man who sells crosses, crucifixes, rosaries and menorahs. Only in Jerusalem.
